Knights & Conquests
There will be a historical talk by Mr Ros McAdden at the Knights and Conquests Heritage Centre on Easter Saturday, March 30 at 12 noon. Ros will speak on the topic of 'O'Farrell Power in a Norman Land, (1172-1315)''.

By 1200AD, within just thirty years of the arrival of the Normans to Angaile (modern Longford) the Gaelic O'Farrell rulers had lost their chief in battle, their lands had been granted to Norman lords and great castles had been constructed on their front door.

This talk examines how the O'Farrells went on, not only to survive but thrive, regaining their position as independent lords of Anghaile after the invasion of Edward the Bruce in 1315.
