Three face trial in connection with alleged Longford shooting incident
Three men are to begin their trial this week in connection with an alleged shooting incident that took place in Ardnacassa, Longford town in January 2022.
A jury was sworn in last week for the case involving three defendants Jamie Dinnegan, of 18 Grian Ard, Ardnacassa, Longford; Noel Ward, of 8 Spring Lawn, Longford, and Michael Ward, of 30 Palace Crescent, Longford.
Mr Dinnegan is facing charges of the discharge of a firearm, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Noel Ward is facing charges of attempting to impede the prosecution by recovering the firearm, as well as the unlawful possession of that firearm.
Michael Ward is charged with hitting Jamie Dinnegan with a vehicle and failing to remain at the scene afterwards.
There are 14 counts on the indictment in total, between the three accused.
All offences are alleged to have occurred on January 24, 2022, at Palace Crescent, Longford.
The trial will commence on Wednesday afternoon before Judge Kenneth Connolly and a jury.
It is expected to continue for a number of weeks.
