The Ballinalee Players are delighted to return to the stage this weekend with a hilarious three act comedy, The Maiden Aunt by Jimmy Keary directed by Martina Reynolds. The play is filled with laughter and has been hugely successful all over Ireland.
The Players are looking forward to seeing old friends and new in Ballinalee's Thomas Ashe Hall on Friday, January 26, Saturday, January 27 and Sunday, January 28.
Doors open at 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday with curtain up at 8pm. Sunday's show is at the earlier time of 7pm with doors open at 6.30pm.
The play tells the story of maiden aunt Gertie O’Grady, a retired school teacher and single lady who comes to stay with her niece Mary Murphy, her husband Dan and their son John Paul.
Mary tries to persuade her aunt to make a will. When Gertie apparently ‘dies’ Dan Murphy comes up with an elaborate plan to get their hands on her money and the drama begins.
The cast is made up of: Anne Sheridan as Mary Murphy; Vinny Conefrey as Dan Murphy; PJ Donnelly as Charlie; Gerry Brady as John Paul Murphy; Carol Vesey as Gertie O’ Grady; Seamus Cahill as Francie Gilhooley; Pat Mc Donnell as Jarlath McKenna; Bernie Conlon as Caroline Quinn and Rowena Rawle as Paula Moore
The Players are delighted to welcome Rowena Rawle to join the group. No stranger to the stage with numerous appearances as a dancer and musician in Ireland and Europe Rowena has settled into the fun of rehearsals with ease.
The Players are thankful to the Hall Committee Ballinalee, Sean Connolly’s GAA and the management and staff of Little Learners in facilitating the production.
Tickets are available on Ballinalee Players Eventbrite and we encourage people to use this system. However, anybody who would prefer to use the old system, please contact / text 086 1693563
We are more than happy to facilitate any requests. You don’t want to miss this fun night out. We can't wait to see you in beautiful Ballinalee this weekend.
