Longford man who had ‘a serious amount of cannabis’ needs to 'cop on'
A father of five who had “a serious amount of cannabis” in his possession was warned he needs to “cop on” and engage with the probation service.
Michael O'Leary of 9 Camlin Mews, Longford is charged with possession of cocaine and cannabis and possession of the cannabis for sale or supply on March 29, 2021 at Camlin Meadows, Longford.
The cannabis was valued at €6,721 and the cocaine at €85.
The amount of drugs involved were at the higher end of the scale, Judge Owens noted.
She added, “The case had originally been before the court several months ago. I gave him the opportunity to engage with the probation services. Mr O’Leary should have the cop on at this stage to know what he needs to do.”
Judge Owens warned that the defendant is at a “serious risk of getting a custodial sentence”.
A previous court sitting heard that gardaí executed a search warrant and found what was described as “a substantial amount of cannabis and a small amount of cocaine” in a vehicle belonging to the defendant outside the house.
The case was adjourned to April 9, 2024 for a probation report.
