Longford poised for major pre-Christmas jobs boost
A significant jobs announcement is expected to be made in county Longford tomorrow.
Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation Dara Calleary TD will be visiting Enterprise Ireland client company C&D Foods Group in Edgeworthstown where it is anticipated that he will announce the creation of up to one hundred new roles.
Earlier this year, in May, C&D Foods Group was granted planning permission by Longford County Council for the construction of a new state-of-the-art pouch plant extension at their Edgeworthstown facility.
One of the biggest employers in county Longford, C&D Foods was founded in 1969 by the late Taoiseach Albert Reynolds.
In January, 2006 a major fire ripped through the factory causing millions of Euro in damage before it was refitted as a world-class production site for pouches.
C&D Foods entered into a new partnership with Larry Goodman’s ABP Food Group in 2008 and eleven years later, it was taken over by ABP.
C&D Foods Group, which has it administrative headquarters in Mullingar, now offers manufacturing facilities and sales offices in fourteen locations across Europe, with 1,500 employees driving excellence and innovation in pet food.
