Longford Variety Groupe: Night Fever sets pulses racing

The boundless talent of Longford performers was on display last week as the local Variety Group presented their latest show Night Fever.
The dynamic group returned to Backstage from last Thursday, (November 23) to Saturday (November 25).

Night Fever featured songs from musicals such as Sunshine on Leith, Our House, Madness Medley, Grease, Beauty & the Beast, Saturday Night Fever and Mamma Mia! to name but a few.
Night Fever producer Charlie Murray commended all who took part in the show: “The show was dedicated to the late Ayshea Ryan, and we performed a tribute piece in her honour. It was sung beautifully by her best friend Sinead Cauley,” he told the Leader.
Among the stand out pieces that wowed the audiences was a number from Sister Act in which Sister Mary Clarence (played by Mel Rattigan) demonstrated her wonderful singing skill, while the Peelo school of Dance gave a remarkable performance from Moulin Rouge under the choreographic guidance of Chloe Brady.

There were also stellar performances from Sean Hussey, his wife Mary, along with Sean's two sisters Mary Ireland and Maggie Grogan: “They are such a talented group and it gave Night Fever a real family feel,” Charlie said.
Peter Costello had the crowd rocking in their seats with his country music mix, while Tony Wadd, Denise McNamara Flood, Jacinta McNamara Baxter, Trish Farrell, and Josh Riggs all sang beautifully.
Charlie said the effort of all involved was very appreciated: “The show was choreographed by the very talented Penny Barry, with stand out scenes such as Night Fever, AbbA and a Grease megamix. We had an excellent comedy team consisting of Killian Reid, Kim Creevy Finnan, Mikey Molloghan, Triona Fitzgerald and led by the legendary John Kelly.”

Charlie concluded by commending one of the acts: “A special mention must go to Liz Leavy and Kayla Gray for Beauty and the Beast.”
Night Fever was co-producers on by Maggie Walsh and Kevin Hussey with set design by Killian and Gerry Reid.
All funds raised go to Longford Hospice Homecare, Saint Christopher's special school and other local charities.
