Caption: Sunday was a Landmark day in Ballinalee as An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar officially opened the Rose Cottage War of Independence Centre, which was home to the late General Sean MacEoin, and headquarters to the North Longford Flying Column who played an important role during the Battle of Ballinalee 103 years ago. As part of the day’s celebrations Mr Varadkar and Longford County Council Cathaoirleach led a wreath laying ceremony at the Sean MacEoin Statue in the heart of the village.
