Permission granted for major changes at popular Longford service station

Permission has been granted for major changes at a popular Longford service station.

Longford County Council has greenlit the proposed development at Camlin Service Station on the Dublin Road, Ardnacassagh after just over a month of deliberation.

Changes will include the change of use from retail use to retail with ancillary off license use, which will allow for the creation of a dedicated off licence area.

The main entrance door along the western elevation will also be relocated.

Just one observation was made by a concerned member of the public.

Their submission states: "I submit that the development plan never envisaged the linking of alcohol with driving. This is inherently wrong and unjustifiable. Alcohol at service stations should [be] discouraged throughout the State."

Permission was granted with just six conditions.
