Over the last number of years the Gemma McGee Memorial Bursary has supported twelve wonderful students attending college and this year a further three students will receive their award.
The Gemma McGee Memorial Bursary Committee together with Gemma’s family are holding an All Vehicle Run from Moyne Community School - “Gemma’s school” - to ensure that future students receive these awards. This wouldn’t be possible without the support of family, friends and our school community.
We are appealing to the Moyne School catchment area to get behind us. These awards are available to students from Drumlish, Longford, Aughnacliffe, Moyne, Arva, Ballinalee Gowna, Aughavas and many more. The school catchment area is vast and with your help and support we will continue Gemma’s legacy of giving.
Gemma was a bright spark, she loved music and was an accomplished button accordion player, she excelled in school and college graduating with honours. She was a real fighter, she started boxing in college and became Dublin novice Champion. She thrived in Trinity; she was the Captain of Trinity boxing club, a title only ever held by men. She loved her family and her friends meant the world to her.
Our All Vehicle Run starts on Sunday, October 29 From Moyne Community School. Registration in the Gymnasium at 10am leaving the school at 12pm. It will travel to Drumlish , Ballinalee, Aughnacliffe, Gowna, Arva, and back to Moyne. The Motorbikers will head onwards from Arva through Carrigallen, Mohill, Drumlish and back to Moyne Community School covering the entire catchment area of the school. We are appealing for your support on the day by coming to the school, with your vehicle, tractor, motorbike, lorry or vintage car or tractor or by your kind donations to the fund.
Spectators will park at the National School and the main vehicles taking part will be directed to their designated area within the Moyne Community School grounds.
We thank you for your support shown to us over the past five years since we lost Gemma and for making these awards possible. It takes an army to make an event like this happen and we are truly grateful for all the help that has been given to us. Gemma’s memory will live in many hearts because of these awards.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
