Longford Girl Guides take part in Paint it Pink fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness
Last Thursday marked the return of the Ardagh Girl Guides Paint it Pink fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness.
The event has been held annually since 2014 , every guide from the ages 10-14 would bake, sew and paint items to sell on the night. The fundraiser continued until the Covid lockdown prevented an in-person event in 2020, but not to be deterred, Chloe and Kayla Reilly donated their hair to charity and ran a Facebook fundraiser instead. The evening had a variety of items for sale that were all created by the girls, some of these items include dog treats, bracelets, candyfloss, bookmarks, buns, cakes, scrunchies, and other hair accessories. Competitions such as guessing the number of sweets in a jar, pining the hat, wand, star and nose on the witch, face painting, and a raffle, with a fabulous prize voucher, kindly donated by Joey K Make-up, Keenagh. The event was supported by the girl's families , friends and local community, as a result of this and the efforts of the Guide group on their stalls, one thousand euro was raised by this fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness.
