Burglaries decrease by 12% in Longford / Roscommon

Phone Watch's recent recorded CSO crime statistics have shown that burglaries in the Longford/Roscommon region have decreased by 12%.

Over the years research has always shown that this is the time of year for increased burglaries, so the message from PhoneWatch is very clear, now is the time to get winter ready and get your home protected. Phonewatch provide recommendations on how to keep your home as safe as possible these include locking windows and doors, securing your house keys, leaving a light on , safeguarding your valuables, asking a neighbour to take out your bins and collect post so it does not look like there's no one home if you are away from the house for a number of days and finally if you do not have one already get an alarm and use it.

Eoin Dunne, Managing Director of PhoneWatch said, “The past 12 months have shown a welcome decrease in our burglary levels nationally, however, we should bear in mind that we are coming into the period when typically, burglaries are at their highest, and our homes are most vulnerable. We know that 58% of Irish homeowners fear burglary most in the winter months. At PhoneWatch we are all about peace of mind and ensuring this concern is reduced as much as possible”.
