A former student of St Mel’s College, Longford Deasun Kelly (LC class of 2022) was awarded with a JP McManus Scholarship in UL last weekend.
JP McManus established the All Ireland Scholarships in 2008 to financially support many gifted young students across the island of Ireland during their third level education. Deasun is a very worthy recipient of this prestigious award.
During his time in St Mel’s he was very involved in the student council and arranged Autism awareness workshops and talks for students. He also excelled academically and was very popular among his peers.
Malachy Flanagan, Principal St Mel’s College, attended the award ceremony last Saturday and is pictured here with Deasun and his mother Siobhan Kelly.
All at St Mel's College wish Deasun continued success in his third level education and look forward to him visiting the school in the coming months where we hope he will share his success story and also the challenges he overcame with our current students.
Well done Deasun….St Mel’s is hugely proud of you!
