Famed novelist to launch Mullooly book in Longford town

RTÉ wage under reporting over Tubridy fallout slammed as ‘a betrayal’, storms Longford's former Montrose journalist

Ciaran Mullooly

The novelist and playwright Michael Harding is to launch a new book by the former RTE News Correspondent Ciaran Mullooly at Longford Library in Longford town centre on Saturday, September 16 at 12.30pm.

The book, entitled 'The Future is Now - Life after RTE and stories of just transition and renewal in rural Ireland' is the third book to be penned by the Lanesboro born writer and journalist.

"This publication takes a different tack to previous publications" the author says.

"I will be looking at the way in which the economy of Longford and the midlands is evolving after closures at Bord na Móna and ESB as well as reflecting on the extraordinary events in RTE since I left.

“Michael Harding and I had one very famous meeting during the 'beast from the east' weather event in 2018 so I am thrilled we are getting the chance to meet again in calmer circumstances."

The launch takes places in the branch library in Longford town centre car park (N39 HK76) at 12.30pm on Saturday afternoon September 16 and the author has extended an open invitation to everyone to attend.

He will also sign copies on the day.
