Irish five piece 'twisted-trad' band Ruaile Buaile
There is a phenomenal line up of music over the weekend for The Marquee in Drumlish Festival.
Friday, August 18 will see the Oasis tribute band Live Forever and DJ Fergal D’Arcy.
Live Forever is the definitive tribute to the iconic Manchester Supergroup Oasis. Brought together with a purpose and passion to perform the crowd rousing hits, b-sides and album tracks of Oasis on their local pub scene, A decade later this unrivalled tribute band are now consistently selling out major venues and festivals nationwide and beyond.
DJ Fergal D’Arcy continues his association with The Marquee in Drumlish Festival. The former Today FM and iRadio presenter joined RTÉ 2FM earlier this year.
D'Arcy held the accolade of the number one music broadcaster on commercial radio during the afternoons in Ireland. He has commanded an audience of over 120k listeners as a presenter on Today FM. In 2008 he picked up the PPI Radio Award for Best Light Hearted Magazine Programme. His Marquee shows are always a big draw for younger audiences.
Saturday's line up includes Johnny Brady, Ray Lynam and Mike Denver. Johnny Brady has one of the most distinctive voices in modern country music. Known for his powerful vocals, energetic performances and charismatic personality, Johnny has a unique sound and is continually pushing the boundaries in a new generation of Irish country music Artists.
Ray Lynam is a man synonymous with Irish Country music. The Westmeath man is over forty years in the music business. Lynams singing voice is closely modelled on those American country singers that influenced his early career, such as George Jones and Merle Haggard, rather than the more popular Country and Irish style. He has had hits on the Irish charts during the 1970s and 1980s with cover versions of some of their well-known tracks including He Stopped Loving Her Today and If We're Not Back in Love by Monday.
Mike Denver, known as “The Galway Boy”, is one of Ireland’s top Entertainers, Born and raised in the town of Portumna in the west of Ireland he began singing from an early age continuously honing his craft and performing local shows to eventually become the entertainer he is today.
Mike started touring at the age of 16 signing with Willie Carty Entertainment who has stayed by his side ever since.
Sunday's entertainment is brought to the audience by All Folk’d Up, Ruaile Buaile and local group Cronin.
Contemporary Irish Folk-Rock group, All Folk’d Up were originally formed back in Dublin by banjo virtuoso and lead singer Pauric Mohan while studying for a Music degree in the capital.
He soon brought in younger brother Barry and other members to bolster the band’s line-up. After polishing their live set with a full band line up, All Folk’d Up soon landed themselves a residency at Dublin’s world famous - Temple Bar, developing a devoted and impassioned fanbase along the way.
Ruaile Buaile are an Irish based five piece twisted-trad band, based in the midlands of Ireland. The group formed in 2011. In 2021, world renowned musician Cathal Guinan (Fiddle) joined the band, followed by Seán Bourke (banjo) in 2023. Along with original members Niall Kelly (Vocals and Guitar), Jack Godley (Percussion) and Shane Lynam (Vocals and Bass), the quintet are entertaining audiences with a bigger than ever sound.
Cronin is the musical project from Irish brothers Jonathon and Michael Cronin. Leaving Ireland in the last recession in the early 90's to live in the North of England shaped their musical influences,style and aspirations.
Since returning to Ireland 10 years ago they have set up their own recording studio, Transmission Rooms in Longford, released acclaimed singles and albums under the moniker The Aftermath, featured music on 2 major motion pictures amongst other things.
The last night of the festival, as always, will see Declan Nerney take centre stage. Declan was born in the heart of Ireland in Drumlish, Longford, at a unique period of time in the music scene worldwide. His sound is the very essence of Irish country and his song was the inspiration for the Festival.
