As part of the Bealtaine Festival 2023, Paul Farrell, a service user from St Christopher's Services Longford, celebrated the opening of his woodwork exhibition last Wednesday in Edgeworthstown community library.

The exhibition which ran at the library until Friday, May 26, showcases the woodwork projects that Paul has completed as a member of Granard’s Men’s Shed. READ MORE BELOW PHOTO

Paul lives in a rural area in county Longford and was seeking a way to make friends and get involved in his local community.
In 2018 he joined the Men’s Shed in Granard. He found this group to be very welcoming and the members are all very friendly.

Paul loves the sense of community and the opportunity to learn new skills. It is not all work, there is time to socialise, have a cuppa and chat.

There is a great sense of camaraderie and the connection to the Men’s Shed was a great support during covid.

Although the men could not meet physically, they kept in touch over the phone in anticipation of when restrictions would be lifted.

Eventually when life became the new norm the lads were reunited, and it was like old times once again.

Eoin, another member of the Men’s Shed has imparted many tricks of the trade to Paul and has supported him with each of these projects.

Paul and Eoin have completed several projects over the years. These have accumulated into quite a collection and they were displayed with pride in Edgeworthstown Library.
