Results Round-Up

A busy weekend of action continued on Saturday morning with the Royal Canal Run held in cool, damp conditions. A number of club members took part in either the 10k or half marathon with plenty of good results and personal bests recorded. Well done to all.

Fiona Gettings ran a very impressive 36:38 to claim victory in the 10k with Ashley Ryan, a recent new club member, finishing soon after to complete a brilliant Longford one-two.

Barry Sheil and Adrian Wrobel placed second and third in the men’s race with Donal Mulligan running strongly in the half marathon for third. Edel Mooney also achieved a podium finish as second place lady in an excellent 1:29. Our thanks to the organisers for another great Royal Canal Run event.

It was to the streets of London on Sunday with John Scott and Philip Bannister among the masses at the London Marathon. Both had excellent runs with John crossing the line in a superb 2:49 and Philip, one of our Little Athletics coaches, also pacing it nicely coming in under 4 hours.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Royal Canal Camino scheduled for May 13 has been cancelled. All entry fees will be refunded.
