Bank of Ireland's former Granard branch has been given the go-ahead to be turned into a mixed residential and office based facility
Eighteen months after it shut its doors to the public, Granard's former Bank of Ireland headquarters is primed to be transformed into a residential and office based development.
Longford County Council this week gave the green light for a change of use of the main street building into a mixed use development consisting of office space and 7 apartments.
The ambitious plans are being spearheaded by Eoin McGovern, brother of Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Turlough McGovern and his wife Natanya, daughter of former Granard Town councillor Tommy Stokes and his wife Lena.
The news comes a year and a half on from when the bank, which was the north Longford town's last remaining mainstream financial institution following the departure of Ulster Bank in 2014, closed its doors for the final time.
