Irish Rail introduce rapid response hubs on Longford trains to curb anti-social behaviour

Iarnród Eireann have undertaken a number of measures to address anti-social behaviour on trains, a recent Longford County Council meeting was told

Iarnród Eireann have undertaken a number of measures to address anti-social behaviour on the train members of Longford County Council were assured at the April meeting of the authority.

 

The issue was raised by several councillors during a presentation by Iarnród Eireann's Communications Manager, Barry Kenny.

Replying to concerns Mr Kenny said: “There will be someone on board the trains that can be alerted in the event of anti-social behaviour issues. We have also established rapid response hubs around the country, including Longford. Our staff on board have direct contact with Garda station to enable them, in the event of an incident, to respond quickly.”

“Longford was the first of those on the Sligo line. Concerns about the transportation of illegal substances on the train is an area we have also worked with Gardai on,” Mr Kenny told the councillors.
