Local Improvement Scheme funding of over €300,000 has been announced for Longford
More than €300,000 in State funding has been announced to target the repair some of Longford's most rural roads and laneways.
Approximately €304, 736 has been ring-fenced by Minister for Rural Affairs Heather Humphreys' department in a six figure sum which is contained under the Government's Local Improvement Scheme (LIS).
The investment is key to supporting vital road infrastructure in rural communities, as well as providing access to homes, farms and outdoor amenities such as lakes, rivers and beaches.
“Local connectivity is absolutely vital for our rural communities and this investment will benefit the lives of families in every single county," said Ms Humphreys as she commented on the scheme's overall €12.55m rollout.
“We all know parts of rural Ireland that can be difficult to access because the road or laneway is in need of repair.
“The Local Improvement Scheme is about making people’s lives that bit easier, ensuring we have good access to homes, farms and our local amenities."
