The General Election is fast approaching. A leaders debate has already been televised, posters can be seen scattered across the county, and the countdown has begun. But how are the public feeling about this election? What issues do they feel need to be addressed and tackled by the next government, whoever they may be?
The Longford Leader visited Granard Mart to find out what the major thoughts and concerns are surrounding the upcoming election. There were many. One man who would prefer not to be named said there are too many schemes.
“There’s a scheme there a sheep scheme here, it would be better if you just put it all in one.
“I just think that if they put it all in one scheme people would know a bit better and be a bit more aware because at the moment you’re spending more time now in the office than you are out on the farm.”

And others have concerns outside of farming life. Each person has a different idea of who not to vote for and who to vote for and some people like many across the country simply don’t know.
Six people told us the issues they believe need to be focused on the most by the incoming government, as well as they're thoughts on the candidates.
While the interviews took place at the mart there was a whole range of concerns outside of the agricultural world people were concerned with.
Each person was kind enough to talk about who'd they'd be voting for and who they would not be.
