Longford election hopeful says Sinn Féin will permanently cut VAT for hospitality sector

Sinn Féin candidate Barry Campion says Sinn Féin will permanently cut VAT for the hospitality sector to Save Local Jobs and tackle the cost of living.

He commented, “Sinn Féin knows very well that the hospitality sector in particular small businesses across Longford and Westmeath are struggling. The government only in recent weeks passed its budget without any regard for these businesses.
“Struggling small businesses and those who work for them have been taken for granted. Fine Gael in recent weeks rejected Sinn Féin’s proposal to reduce VAT for the hospitality sector – excluding hotels – to 9%.

“Fine Gael has been in government for fourteen years and its latest attempt to crack over the seals is laughable and half baked.”

Mr Campion continued, “Small and medium enterprises across Ireland employ almost 1.2 million people. They are the heart and soul of cities, towns and villages across the country. They make up the bulk of businesses in all of our local towns and villages and keep them vibrant. 600 restaurants have closed since Fine Gael withdrew their reduced rate of VAT.”
He believes that on November 29, voting Sinn Féin is the only way we can change the government.

“A Sinn Féin led government will work hard for workers and communities. We are capable, ready and willing to deliver our policies to improve healthcare, housing and education.”
