Meath were ruthless in attack, scoring five goals, in proving too strong for Longford in the Ladies Football National League Division 3 semi-final at the Kinnegad grounds on Saturday.

Meath . . . 5-18      Longford . . . 3-10

Last year’s beaten All-Ireland Intermediate Championship finalists produced a powerful performance despite the determined efforts of a spirited Longford team who were minus the Darcy sisters Aoife and Niamh.

Trailing by 2-11 to 1-7 at the break, Enda Sheridan’s side put it up to Meath at times and forced their keeper Monica McGuirk into making a number of fine saves. But the Royal County responded well to Longford’s comebacks and sealed the victory in the final minutes, scoring 1-6 without reply.
