Following their narrow defeat against Kildare in the opening round the previous week, the Longford Ladies deservedly recorded their first win in Division 3 of the National League with the comfortable margin of six points to spare over Sligo at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday.

Longford . . . 4-14     Sligo . . . 4-8

Michelle Farrell, Emer Heaney, Aisling Greene and Anna McDonnell scored the goals for Longford in this vital victory.

Longford went in at the break five points in front: 2-7 to 1-5. They dominated the second half but Sligo added three more goals to their tally to keep themselves in the game.

Next up for Longford  is an away trip to Offaly who have lost both their opening games.
