James Daly appointed the new Longford ladies manager

Armagh native James Daly, the new manager of the Longford ladies football squad.

James Daly from the Dromintee club in Co Armagh has been appointed the new manager of the Longford ladies football squad, succeeding Leitrim native Micael Bohan who guided the county to the 2016 All-Ireland Junior Championship title.

Daly enjoyed a lot of success during his four years in charge of the Armagh ladies as his native county gained promotion from Division 3 to Division 1 of the National League and won the All-Ireland Intermediate Championship title in 2012.

Further progress was made when the Armagh ladies reached the All-Ireland Senior semi-final in 2015, only to lose out to Dublin, with Daly deciding to step down in the aftermath of the 2-16 to 2-5 defeat.

Working with a lot of potential, Daly will be determined to do well with Longford who will be strong contenders to win Division 4 of the National League next season with the campaign starting on Sunday January 29.

Promotion will be the first target and the Longford ladies will then turn their attention to the 2017 Leinster and All-Ireland Intermediate Championships in the firm belief that they can make a big impact.
