Well done to the Longford football team in New York, winners of the Junior League Final at Gaelic Park on Tuesday evening of last week.

Mullinalaghta man JJ Matthews was in outstanding form, clocking up the impressive total of 2-8 in the very easy 5-15 to 0-7 win over Manhattan Gaels.

It was a fine team effort under the shrewd management team of Finbarr O’Neill (Longford Slashers), Cormac McCormack (Ballymahon) and Dermot Yorke (Carrickedmond).

All involved with the squad would like to wish Emmet Mahon a speedy recovery from a broken nose injury sustained early in the game.
