Clonguish won the U-21 ‘A’ Football championship title for the first time since 2017 with a comprehensive success over Granard in the final at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday last.

Clonguish . . . 3-19    St Mary’s Granard . . . 0-11

The game was extremely one-sided as a contest. Clonguish carried the mantle of warm favourites going into the game and more than lived up to that billing.

St Mary’s were flat in the first half as Clonguish quickly powered through the gears, taking a 1-12 to 0-3 lead into the half-time break with Michael Flynn scoring the goal and it was all over as a contest.

Clonguish full-back Cian Sutton was the winner of the Man of the Match award. He had an outstanding game, repelling any attempts by the Granard attack to make real headway.

Clonguish’s clean sweep of the underage ‘A’ football championship titles in 2022 is now complete with the Minor (U-17), U-15 and U-13 competitions also won in a tremendous year for the club.
