Longford ladies football gearing up for the start of the 2022 season

Brian Noonan re-appointed Longford ladies senior football manager

Mostrim's Brian Noonan has been re-appointed by Longford ladies executive board to serve as manager of the Longford ladies senior team for the 2022 playing season. This is Brian's second year as manager of the Longford senior ladies county squad.

Brian and his management team will prepare and manage the Longford ladies senior team to play in Division 3 in this year’s Lidl National Football League Division 3 and in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate championship later in the summer.
Brian will be joined again this year by the same management team as in 2021 but without Granard man Vinny Nally (selector/coach) who is now working abroad.

The management team includes:
Manager: Brian Noonan (Mostrim)
Selector: Eugene Quaine (Carrickedmond)
Selector: John Coyle (Mostrim)
Selector: Emmet Toher (Killoe)
S&C: Sharon Treacy (Killoe)
F.L.O: Lorraine Corrigan (St. Helen’s)

New Longford Ladies Minor Manager

Recently announced as the new Longford ladies minor manager for the 2022 football season is Pat Tiernan from Grattans ladies club. Pat has moved up from U-16 ladies manager to manage the Longford minor ladies in 2022 following his recent appointment to this position by Longford LGFA executive.

Pat hopes to guide the Longford minor ladies to Leinster minor championship glory in the summer months ahead and at present is putting together his minor panel to represent Longford ladies in the 2022 Leinster championship campaign.  He is no stranger to underage county management in Longford having managed county lady’s underage teams from U-14 up to his present position as minor manager.

The Minor management team is as follows:
Manager: Pat Tiernan, Grattans
Selector/Coach: Mairead Reynolds, Dromard
Selector/Coach: Paddy Ganley, Ardagh Moydow

New Longford Ladies U-16 Manager

Longford LGFA are delighted to announce Dermot Murphy (Colmcille) as the new Longford ladies U-16 manager for 2022. Dermot has been actively involved in coaching with his club Colmcille since 2013 at both ladies and mens underage levels and now looks forward to the challenge of managing at county underage level with Longford ladies.
The U-16  management team is as follows:
Manager: Dermot Murphy, Colmcille
Selector/Coach: Jimmy O’Neill, Killoe
Selector/Coach: Colm Kilbride, ColmcilleS&C Coach: Michelle Farrell, Colmcille
Female Liaison Officer: Fiona Murphy, Colmcille

New Longford Ladies U-14 County Manager

Longford LGFA are glad to announce that David Tiernan from the Ardagh Moydow club will take charge of the Longford U-14 county ladies panel this year.
The Longford U-14 team management is as follows:

Selector: Dara McGann, Ballymahon Forgney
Selector: Tom Hoban, Clonguish
Selector /Administration: Charlotte Kearney, Ballymore

Upcoming County Games and Dates

The following are dates of games to be played by Longford ladies underage and senior county teams in this year’s  NFL and championships.

Longford Senior Ladies:
Longford senior ladies play in the Lidl NFL Division 3B as follows.
Sunday 13 February: Away v Wicklow
Sunday 20 February: Home v Kildare
Sunday 6 March: Away v Wexford Division 3 league semi-finals 20 March
Division 3 league final 3 April

TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate championship games and dates to be announced later.

Leinster Minor ‘B’ Championship: 
27th March: Longford v Louth
18th April: Longford v Westmeath
21st May: Longford v Wexford
Minor Leinster ‘B’ semi-finals 22nd June
Minor Leinster ‘B final 6th July

Leinster U-16 ‘B’ Championship: 
Round 1 4th March: Longford v Westmeath
Round 2 19 March: Longford v Louth
Round 3 9 April: Longford v Wexford
Leinster ‘B’ semi-final 23 April

Leinster ‘B’ final 7 May

U-14 Leinster Championship Blitz: 
Longford play on the 19th and 26th February and on 12th March. The Leinster U-14 blitz finals will be played on the 26th March.

Updated Covid Advice

Following the recent relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions please note the following in relation to football changes in the coming months.
Covid in the Community: While restrictions have been relaxed, it is important to note that Covid is still with us. Please remember while playing football or at administrative level to continue to follow Government advice on containment of the virus. This means that players, coaches or administrators who are displaying any of the symptoms of Covid should not attend training, games or meetings. 

Water breaks: "Following a meeting of the Management Committee of Central Council this week, a decision was made that water breaks will remain in place until 1st April 2022 or until the completion of any competition which has commenced prior to this date.  Any competitions commencing after the 1st April 2022 can no longer have scheduled water breaks"

Remember to stay safe and continue to follow the Covid guidelines which are in place at this time. 

Safeguarding Course

Longford Sports Partnership are holding a Safeguarding-2 club children’s officer workshop on the 8th March 2022. Cost of this workshop is €15 per person. This workshop will be provided over zoom. For more information and to register please email: sports@longfordcoco.ie    

Recent Engagement

Congratulations to last year’s Longford U-14 ladies county manager Sinead Macken, Clonguish who recently announced her engagement to Mullinalaghta footballer James McGivney. We wish Sinead and James best of luck for the future together.
