While Club Longford, led by their energetic Chairperson Derek ‘Sherpack’ Sheridan, continue to make a massive boost for the overall financial figures, particularly the major development draw, the cost of running the Longford GAA teams in all grades is still on the rise.
€844,146 is the total sum for the inter-county squads (football and hurling) for the 2025 season, as compared to €837,313 in the previous year, and between team manager/selectors (€138,869) along with backroom team personnel (€149,656) the figure is almost €300,000.
Undoubtedly a cause for concern when you take the match results into consideration despite the decrease of €28,720 in management expenses.
Player mileage has also dropped by a significant total of €81,610, mainly due to the fact that Abbotstown was not used, but at least there is a surplus of €48,720 between the income and expenditure accounts.
The team administration breakdown is as follows:
Player Mileage - €128,002
Team Manager & Selectors - €138,869
Backroom Team Personnel - €149,656
Meals/Catering/Nutrition - €145,460
Travel & Accommodation - €56,294 - Travel Accommodation increased by €20,670 mainly due to the National League fixture in London
Sportsgear & Equipment - €85,278
Medical - €78,968
Facility Hire - €55,269
Player Injury Fund - €5,440
Sundry Costs - €550
The main income source, other than Central Funding, are Gate Receipts (€238,113), Club Longford Development Draw (€207,585) and the old reliable Race Day at Punchestown (€170,536) and the dedicated people involved in the fundraising events deserve a lot of credit.
