The latest development in the ongoing Longford Senior Football Championship controversy in the case for Carrickedmond was heard by the Central Appeals Committee in Croke Park last night (Wednesday) and the decision was a win for the Longford CCC but it remains to be seen what happens next in this frustrating saga.
The previous Saturday morning the Leinster GAA Hearings Committee decided to defer the matter (dealing with the Mullinalaghta objection) to a newly constituted Longford CCC but the county board in turn appealed that stipulation to the Central Appeals Committee.
Carrickedmond are appealing the awarding of the win to Mullinalaghta by Longford CCC in the recent Group B clash which knocked Eugene McCormack’s side out of the championship.
The upheaval is threatening to throw the Longford SFC into disarray but at the moment the stage is set for the semi-finals following the wins for KiIloe (v Dromard), Colmcille (v Clonguish), Mullinalaghta (v Granard) and Abbeylara (v Rathcline) last weekend.
