In a further dramatic twist to the ongoing Longford Senior Football Championship controversy, the Carrickedmond appeal over the awarding of the win to Mullinalaghta in the recent Group B clash has been upheld by the Leinster GAA Hearings Committee.

The result of the appeal in Carrickemond’s favour this Saturday morning might well bring about a delay in the conclusion of the 2024 Connolly Cup but the four quarter-finals this Saturday and Sunday are going ahead!

The Leinster GAA Hearings Committee have made the decision to defer the matter (dealing with the Mullinalaghta objection) to a newly constituted Longford CCC and who knows what is going to happen in the upheaval that is threatening to throw the Longford SFC into disarray.

Saturday 14 September

Glennon Brothers Pearse Park: Killoe Emmet Og v Dromard, 4.45pm

Glennon Brothers Pearse Park: Clonguish v Colmcille,  6.15pm

Sunday 15 September

Glennon Brothers Pearse Park: Mullinalaghta St. Columba’s v St. Mary’s Granard, 3.30pm

Glennon Brothers Pearse Park: Abbeylara v Rathcline  5.15pm

Carrickedmond issue statement in relation to relegation play-off v Slashers

'Carrickedmond GAA has made the decision not to fulfil our fixture v Longford Slashers on the grounds of the Leinster GAA Hearings Committee upholding our appeal today against the decision of Longford CCC.

Leinster HC have requested a new hearing take place with Longford CCC as part of their decision. As a result of this decision it is our opinion that our fixture v Longford Slashers is invalid.

Our request to postpone the games in light of the decision was rejected by Longford CCC.

Thanks to everyone for their continued support over the last 2 weeks.'
