Longford duo Jamsie Martin (Dromard) and John Coyle (Mostrim) have earned the distinction of selection for Ireland in the Masters Football International Rules Series against Australia over the next two weekends.

Evergreen attacker Jamsie, who turned back the clock to score a cracking goal for his club in last year’s Senior Championship semi-final against Clonguish, is named on the Irish over 40s squad while John will represent his country in the over 50s International Rules Series.

Congratulations also to Kevin Hourican (Dromard) who is part of the management team for Ireland’s over 50s masters squad.

Michelle Hannify Mulvey and Michelle Ross Bohan will also experience International status as both Longford ladies have been selected for the Ireland Over 40 Ladies squad for the Masters Football Rules Series against Australia.

Drumlish native Hannify plays her club football with Carrickedmond while Legan native Ross is now living in Westmeath and played her club football with Carrickedmond. Michelle now plays with The Downs club.

Two test matches featuring the Men’s Over 40s, Ladies Over 40s and Men’s Over 50s will take place in Mullagh, Co. Galway on Saturday March 9 and Denn, Co. Cavan on Saturday March 16.
