Longford are in grave danger of failing to achieve the primary target of promotion in Division 4 of the National Football League after suffering a costly setback against Tipperary at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday last.
The slender margin of two points separated the sides in the finish, as was also the case in the defeat by Laois at O’Moore Park the previous weekend, and the pressure is mounting on Longford who will be dead and buried if they lose any of their remaining five league fixtures.
The situation is at a very low ebb indeed with long term injuries to Andrew Farrell and Iarla O’Sullivan a significant blow and it remains to be seen whether the manager Paddy Christie can turn things around in the current struggle.
Next up are Waterford at Fraher Field in Dungarvan on Saturday evening week (throw-in 6pm) which will surely produce a first win and another two points will be there for the taking when London come to Pearse Park on Sunday February 25!
