JP McManus
Billionaire businessman JP McManus is to donate €1 million to Gaelic Games in Longford and the same sum to every other county board in Ireland.
The money – a donation from the JP McManus Charitable Foundation – is to be evenly divided in support of men's football, women's football, hurling and camogie clubs.
The very generous gesture is intended to assist clubs and local communities and benefit the grassroots development of Gaelic games across the country.
Previously McManus donated €100,000 to each county board in the country in 2018 and which was divided equally amongst their clubs.
GAA thanks McManus family
The GAA would like to acknowledge and thank JP McManus, his wife Noreen, and their children for their incredible generosity on the news today that they are donating €1m to all 32 counties for distribution to clubs across the Gaelic Games family.
Uachtarán CLG Larry McCarthy and Ard Stiúrthóir CLG Tom Ryan said: “We would like to place on record our sincere gratitude to JP McManus and his family for yet another remarkable gesture of support.
"Clubs across the island benefitted greatly from the generosity of JP and his family in 2018, and we know that the funds were put to very good use at the time.
"His support of the GAA at many levels is well documented and our units will once again rejoice in the generosity of the McManus family and use the funds to assist in their hugely important work at the heart of communities.”
