Leitrim/Longford Masters meet Sligo in their final qualifying game

Mark Connor (Ballymahon) plays in the full-forward position on the Leitrim/Longford Masters team who are in action away to Sligo in Collooney this Wednesday night

Leitrim/Longford Masters will again be in action this Wednesday night when they take on Sligo in an away game, which will be their final game in the league qualifying section after which the semi-final pairings will be known.

So tight is everything in the group of 23 county teams, with Leitrim/Longford sitting joint 7th in the table, that everything is still up for grabs for them.

Two more points in their final league stage game, depending on other results, could see them with a chance of making the A semi-finals, whereas a loss could see them dropping down to the C competition semi-finals.

Leitrim/Longford had a great win against a strong Armagh outfit in Dromard two weeks ago, and although they will be missing a few players from that outing, they will have Carrigallen's McManus brothers, JP and Andrew, Fr. Manning Gaels men Derek McKeon and David Collum, and Gortletteragh's Padraig McGarry all back from their foreign travels.

With a number of players still unavailable either through injuries or holidays, they will be hoping to have the likes of Dominic Glennon (Longford Slashers), Mark Beirne and Ray Cox (Annaduff), Glen Kelly (Ballymore) and Francis Lennon (Fr Manning Gaels) back from injuries.

Sligo have won two of their qualifying league games and they too will be hoping to finish the league stages with a win which would leave them qualifying for the B semi-finals.

An understrength Sligo panel were beaten by a top-ranking Galway side in their last outing but they will no doubt make every effort to finish off their campaign with a win on home grounds and a promotion at stake.

Fixture details Round 7: Leitrim/Longford v Sligo, Wednesday the 19th of July, at 8pm, Owenmore Gaels GAA Club, Collooney, Co. Sligo EirCode F91 X8EX
