The last remaining nights in a successful run for the Corn Mill Theatre Group's production of The Chastitute are on early in the New Year, subject to confirmation.

Having enjoyed a good run to date, with seven dates in December, there are a further three nights planned for John B Keane's classic play in the New Year at the Carrigallen venue.

John Bosco (Killian McGuinness) is a fifty-three-year old bachelor living in rural Leitrim. He has been consigned to a life of celibacy by a combination of religiously inspired sexual guilt, social ineptitude and plain bad luck.

His fate is not, as he explains himself, the result of a lack of effort on his part. A combination of flashbacks, imaginings, and actual happenings illustrate his endeavours with the opposite sex.

His run of failure continues throughout the play in spite of the ministrations of a matchmaker (Brian O'Reilly), his aunt Jane (Maura McGuinness), a smooth-talking lothario (Stephen Grey), and even the local priest (Sean McIntyre), all of whom are filled with parochial advice on the subject.

Written by John B. Keane and directed by Gus Ward, the full cast is as follows: Killian McGuinness, Maura McGuinness, Raymond Hackett, Jim Williamson, Brian O'Reilly, Ann O'Malley, Tony Fahy, Stephen Gray, Stephanie Green, Edel McIntyre, Brendan Kiernan, Mary Harte, Thomas Tierney, Patricia Ledwith, Sean McIntyre, Helen Corcoran, Betty McDermott, Barry Taylor, Michael Reilly, Colin Doonan, Grainne O'Malley and Noel Nash.

The remaining nights on the run are planned for Thursday January 6th, Friday January 7th and Saturday January 8th 2011, but those have yet to be confirmed. Contact (049) 4339612 for exact dates.
