This weekend, 23rd and 24th March, sees the return of the annual Abbey Hotel and Casey’s Topaz Filling Station, Midland Moto Stages Rally to Roscommon Town.

This year’s event consists of a shakedown stage which will take place on Saturday, 23rd March in Kilteevan. Nine special stages will then take place on Sunday, 24th March with central servicing in Ward’s field opposite Casey’s Topaz Filling Station and Nario’s Takeaway.

This rally is a round of the Midlands East Championship and Johnston’s ToyMaster Midland Club Championship. Entrants on the day include, last years winner and Billy Coleman award winner, Daniel McKenna, in his rapid Mark2 Escort; Maurice Moffeff, who finished 3rd in last years event and Paddy McVeigh, in his WRC Subaru Impreza.

The first stage will traverse the Derrane area of Roscommon and will start at approximately 10am. Stage two will be in the Kilteevan area of Roscommon and stage three will be in the Lecarrow area. With over 100 entries into this rally it is guaranteed to be a good day’s entertainment.

Sean Cahill, COC of the event, said, “Everything is put in place. All we need is good weather. This year we are trying to make the event as spectator friendly as possible and to bring the people of Roscommon closer to the sport which we love. With the service area located in the centre of the town, it will be a great focal point for the people of Roscommon and further afield”.

“We would like to thank all of our sponsors, the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon Town; Casey’s Topaz Filling station and all the stage sponsors for their generosity for this upcoming event.

We would also like to thank the residents on the stages for allowing us to hold our event on their doorstep.”

Rally programmes will be available this week in shops throughout the midlands area. For more information on the event, log onto www.midlandmotorclub.com
