Teagasc Longford are hosting a Winter Beef Seminar for all beef farmers in the Teagasc Office, Town Centre, Longford on Monday, November 12 at 7.30pm.

This free event is run to prepare beef farmers for the start of the coming winter period and will cover the areas of Animal Nutrition, Beef Breeding and Farmer Mental Health.

The speakers on the night will be from Kiernan Milling, ICBF and Mental Health Ireland. Rebecca Tierney, the Longford Technical Sales Representative from Kiernan Milling, Granard will be covering nutrition of the Suckler cow and the beef animal over the coming winter. Finola Colgan is an Area Development Officer for Mental Health Ireland covering the Midlands, Louth & Meath.

Finola will be speaking on supporting good mental health of people in rural Ireland. Sometimes stress and strain can lead to greater pressure, resulting in feelings of being unable to cope.

On such occasions being able to reach out to someone to talk to and to get advice can make all the difference to sorting out the problem. And finally a representative from ICBF will be covering Beef breeding and outlining the targets farmers need to meet under the BDGP such as the Stock Bull targets and cow and heifer targets. We look forward to seeing you all at the event. For more information on the Seminar you can contact the Longford Town office on 043 3341021 and you can find information on Facebook @Teagascroscommonlongford.
