Meet the candidate: Granard Municipal District Amanda Duffy (Fianna Fáil)

Name: Amanda Duffy
Party: Fianna Fáil
Address: Drumlish, Co Longford
Occupation: Hair salon manager

Why have you decided to run in the local elections?
I am a Drumlish native. I can see that rural Ireland including the area of North Longford needs a boost of energy. I want to assist voluntary and community organisations in my electoral area so that our communities go from strength to strength.
I am motivated and determined to improve and enhance the lives of the people of my electoral area, whom I will hopefully have the opportunity to represent.
I decided to run in the upcoming local elections because I have a fresh perspective to offer the people of the Granard Electoral area.

Why should people vote for you?
I am a hardworking, dedicated person. I have always loved working with the public. I am very approachable and friendly and I will deliver on the issues that matter.
While canvassing, I met so many supportive people and I would like to thank them all for their warm reception on the doorsteps. With your continued support, I will hopefully be elected and will be able to work hard to resolve the issues that matter to you.

What do you think is lacking in your area and what will you be campaigning for?
Great strides have been made in the infrastructure and services in our communities in recent years but I believe that there is much more to do.
If elected I will work with all groups, organisations and other elected representatives to tackle rural isolation, enhance infrastructure, and increase funding for community and voluntary organisations.
