Outpour of generosity for neglected dog found on a road in Longford

The Shitzu was taken in and cared for by Longford Dog Pound after being found on a road in Edgeworthstown
A picture of Shitzu who was found in a neglected state on a road in Edgeworthstown, has prompted an outpour of generosity from members of the public.
After posting the image to their social media, Longford Dog Shelter received offers from people wanting to pay for a vet and/or a groomer.
One woman wrote, “This poor dog looks like he/she has been trough hell that little face behind all that matted hair. If there is a donation set up for this grooming and vet, I’m happy to help. Hope he/she is ok.”
Another commented, “Will the dog receive veterinary care in the pound? I will pay for treatment if not.” This was met with replies from people also offering to chip in for the bill.
Other comments offered to give the dog a good home.
In acknowledging the many generous offers of good will, the shelter page wrote, “thank you to all who offered to pay for a vet and/or a groomer but the pound have organised that themselves.”

Posting the after-shot on their social media the following day, the shelter wrote, “The before/after I think we all been waiting for. Shitzu saw the vet, and was fully shaved today.”
Responding to the transformation, one commenter appropriately named the dog ‘Bowie Eyes’ while another remarked, “Omg never expected that georgous dog to be under all that matt”
Another commented, “That’s a transformation! Imagine the relief for the doggie.”
The kind woman who originally rescued the dog wrote, “So happy I was able to rescue her off the road and get her to you, she looks like a totally different dog. I hope she gets a family who will love and spoil her rotten.”
