The Maria Edgeworth Centre has become a Letter Keeper
The Maria Edgeworth Centre has joined the international Sunday Letter Project and is now an official Letter Keeper, offering a local home for a global handwritten letter-writing initiative.
The Sunday Letter Project was founded in the UK by Rebecca and Karl of Wildflower Illustration Co. in Cheltenham. The project encourages people to slow down and reconnect through handwritten letters, often exchanged with strangers, as a gentle alternative to digital communication.

As a Letter Keeper, the Maria Edgeworth Centre collects introductory letters written by participants and makes them available for others to read and reply to. Writers can either leave a letter to be discovered by someone else, or choose a letter from the collection and write a thoughtful reply. All correspondence is sent by post through the project’s international network of Letter Keepers.
To mark the launch, the Centre is offering free postage until the end of the month on letters sent to other Letter Keepers worldwide. Letter-writing starter sets are also available, and staff are happy to explain how the project works and how visitors can take part.
