From the autumn 'Longford Life' 2025 magazine

Sara-Lee Greene was selected to be the Longford Rose in 2025. From Edgeworthstown, the 25-year-old mental health nurse who currently works in Sligo, sang with her guitar on the much-anticipated night. With a love for sports and music, Sara-Lee gave viewers the best of Longford, with her bubbly personality and impressive talent.

She studied in NUI Galway between 2018 and 2022. During her Rose of Tralee stint, as a past pupil, she received great support from her Scoil Bhride, Glen, as well as Ardscoil Phádraig.

As of September and October’s edition of the ‘Longford Life’ magazine, Sara-Lee is also featured in the “Seven Deadly Sins”, where she did a tell-all of her best temptations and expressed her fun sense of humour.

LUST: Who or what do you find yourself lusting after today and why?

I suppose we go through different stages of lust. In everyday life, I’ll be looking for what they say is the ideal life all organised. As a Rose, I’m looking for being the perfect Rose and being what people expect to be. In that, I realise I’m very much myself and be myself, as it’s easy to be caught up by it. I think I’ve done a good job by staying as I am. It’s hard because we take notes of what we want at different stages. It changes. The main one is to not change.

GREED: What should you be cutting down on (non-food or drink) and why?

Buying shoes, bags and expensive accessories. People give out because if I like a dress, I’ll buy several colours. In a sense, it’s greedy, but I want it all. Buying things for the same colour, but I need to cut back on that for sure.

GLUTTONY: What one thing could you happily eat or drink until you burst and why?

I am impartial to ordering takeaways. If I was to go anywhere, it’d be Chinese or pizza. I could never be sick of them. Not even chocolate. ‘Love Island’, a cup of tea–I’m content.

SLOTH: What should you be putting your back into now and why?

If you were to ask my mam, she has the patience of a saint. I’m very bad at being proactive with practising. I’m singing in Tralee. I should be practising that. Procrastination, so bad for putting in effort when I’m doing something. Diamonds form under pressure, I say. I definitely think so. I’m very lapsy-daisy when it comes to getting organised.

WRATH: Who or what makes you angry and why?

Erm, I suppose we all have our moments of getting angry and frustrated. I think wrath is often mistaken for anger. If I were to have that flash, that’d be when I was playing sports. I get so wrapped up in it and have to take a moment. Once I take a second and think about it, that my emotions got the better of me there, I try to keep calm as much as I can. I work in mental health, so you have to keep your cool. That’s what I’ve been working on over the year.

ENVY: Who are you jealous of and why?

No one in particular that I’m jealous of. Sometimes I look at people and think it looks so easy for them. It looks so natural to them. They look so well and dress so well. You have to look at yourself and see that it’s human emotions and appreciate what you have as well. Let me think if there’s anyone in particular. The celebrities living out abroad and on their nice boats. No, I try to appreciate everything I have, so that combats that. I’m very happy with life like that, particularly with the Rose.

PRIDE: What is your proudest achievement and why?

At the moment, the Rose. I’m very proud to be representing Longford. The selection of girls were all brilliant girls, so it was hard who was going to get it. I was happy it was me who was picked. My community is proud of me as well. I’m happy with all my achievements in life; who I am as a person, getting through college, doing nursing, being away from home. It’s one of the seven sins, it’s good to be proud of your achievements and go from there.
