There will be a Sustainability and Biodiversity Workshop for Tidy Towns and SEC’s at the EDI Centre, February 10.
The EDI Centre in Longford is hosting a free workshop on Sustainability and Biodiversity for Tidy Towns groups and Sustainable Energy Communities (SEC’s), on Tuesday, February 10 at 6.30pm.

The workshop will be delivered by Sharon Eastwood, an Environmental Consultant and Tidy Towns Adjudicator. Sharon has worked continuously as an independent adjudicator for the national Tidy Towns competition for 17 years, advancing sustainability and biodiversity themes in particular. She has delivered many workshops and spoken at various conferences about the competition and its evolution in recent years to advance national policy. In 2024, Sharon spoke at Ireland’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Stakeholder’s Forum on how the competition is working on transformative approaches to the SDGs.
The Workshop is open to anyone interested in Sustainability and Biodiversity and is free of charge, but pre-registration is required.

The workshop will provide opportunities for community groups to discuss future projects as well as their Tidy Towns Applications and long-term plans. The event is funded by The Wheel’s Training Links programme and is supported by Longford Tidy Towns, Longford County Council, and SEAI (the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland). EDIC’s Manager, Breda Murphy, will facilitate a visit to the REVAMP Circular Economy project at EDIC. SEAI Community Mentors, Isabella Donnelly and Hugh Baxter, will also present details of grant aid support for sustainability projects and examples of recent projects funded by the Community Climate Action Fund.
