Congratulations to Claire Mulleady, daughter of Teresa and the late Seán, Creenagh, Drumlish, and James Rogers, son of Pauline and Joe, Derrycassan, who were married on Saturday, June 14 in St Mary’s Church, Drumlish, with Fr Bernard Hogan officiating assisted by Fr Michael Bannon.
Both the bride and groom are well connected in farming, equestrian, motoring and football circles and there was a large attendance at both the church and at the reception afterwards, with the Buddy Kiernan lorry at the church congratulating the new Mr and Mrs Rogers gaining particular attention.
The weather stayed dry for the ceremony and for the celebrations afterwards. Zoe Brady was chief bridesmaid, assisted by Melissa Carrig and Caroline Keenan, while Mullinalaghta’s own Damien McGovern was the efficient best man with help from groomsmen Steven Kilroy and Erick Collins, and the music being provided by Olivia Romeo.

After the ceremony in Drumlish, the wedding party and guests travelled to the Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell, where an excellent meal and hospitality was on offer by the efficient staff. The meal was preceded by a number of well-crafted speeches by the groom’s father, the bride’s mother, and the groomsmen, with particular tributes of remembrance being paid to Claire’s father Seán and to James’s good friend Martin Cadden.
At the end of the meal, the bride and groom cut the very impressive three-tier cake baked by James’s sister Bronagh of Jammy Rogers Bakery.
Afterwards a lively night of music was provided by the Pixel Band with a great night’s entertainment being had by all.
We would all like to wish the hugely popular couple all the best for their future as they build their new home in Derrycassan.
