The death occurred peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 of Daniel (Dan / Danny) Reilly, Cloontubrid, Drumlish, Co.Longford and formerly of Smear, Aughnacliffe. 

Predeceased by his parents John Pat and Kathleen, sister Margaret (McCarthy) and by his brother Seán. Daniel will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Gertie, children John, Peter, Danny, Margaret (Farrell) and Catriona (Fanning), brother Eugene (Smear Hill), daughters-in-law Jen and Ciara, sons-in-law Colm and Fergus, grandchildren Seán, Brendan, Maebh, Lorcan, Niamh, Senan, Daniel, Kate, Eoghan, Jarlath, Fergus, Felim and Seán, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family and friends.

May he rest in peace. Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Friday, December 5 from 6pm concluding with Prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday, December 6 in St Mary’s Church Newtownforbes at 12.00noon, interment afterwards in Newtownforbes cemetery. Doris Looker (née Macken), Ballinacross, Granard, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Portiuncula Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 of Doris Looker (nee Macken), Ballinacross, Granard, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her parents Jimmy and Cecilia, brother Jimmy, sister-in-law Marie, nephews Jimmy and Conor. Doris will be sadly missed by her loving husband Ken, their children Andrew, David, Paul and Elizabeth. Daughters-in-law Kelly and Karen, son-in-law Brian Donohoe. Her beautiful grandchildren Austin, Dylan, Tess, Conor, Ema and Seán. Her brothers Johnny, Benny and Eddie, sisters-in-law Mona, Sheila, Susanne and Kathi and all her nephews and nieces. May She Rest In Peace.

Reposing at Smith’s Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Granard, Co Longford (Eircode N39AX97) on Thursday, December 4 from 5.30pm to 8pm. Removal on Friday, December 5 to St Mary’s Church, Granard for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by Christian burial in the Granardkill Cemetery. House strictly private at all times please.

John Coles, Gloucestershire/Clonkeen, Ballymahon, Westmeath / Ballymahon, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, in the care of laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 of John Coles, Gloucestershire/Clonkeen, Ballymahon, Westmeath / Ballymahon, Longford. 

Predeceased by his beloved wife Valerie and his many siblings. Sadly missed by his son Paul and daughter-in-law Jing, his brother Cliff, relatives, friends and neighbours, especially his dear friends Mervyn and Jim and all his fishermen friends both sides of the Irish sea.

Funeral Service to be held in Benown Church, Glasson, Co Westmeath this Friday afternoon, December 5 at 1pm followed by burial in Temple-a-valley cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu to the dogstrust.ie link below

The death occurred peacefully at home in his 91st year, in the loving care of his family on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 of P. Mel Gillen, Lyanmore, Ardagh, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary Kate, his sisters Teresa and Mary Brigid and his granddaughter Alana. Sadly missed by his loving wife Nollaig, his daughter Blanaid and his sons Ultan, Peter and Enda, his brother Larry, nieces and nephew, grandchildren Luke, Sarah, Eoghan and Hayley, daughters-in-law Carmel, Avril and Tess, brothers-in-law, very good neighbours, relatives, friends and carers. Rest in peace.

Reposing in St. Brigid's Church, Ardagh on Thursday, December 4 from 5pm with prayers at 7pm. Removal from his home on Friday, December 5 to St Brigid's Church, arriving for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Funeral Mass may be viewed online here.

Margaret Dooner (née Patridge), Kilcommock, Kenagh, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in her home surrounded by her heartbroken family on Monday, December 1, 2025 of Margaret Dooner (nee Patridge) Kilcommock, Kenagh, Co Longford and formerly of Terlicken, Ballymahon, Co Longford.

Predeceased by her parents Paddy and Margaret, brother Pat and her sister-in-law Celine. Margaret will be sadly missed and always remembered by all who loved her dearly, husband and best friend Tony, daughter Mairead Burns, son Colm, daughter-in-law Marian Dennigan, son-in-law Cathal Burns, her cherished grandchild Nuncio, sister Maureen McCarthy (Galway), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and her many dear friends. We hold you close within our hearts And there you shall remain, To walk with us throughout our lives Until we meet again. Rest in Peace Margaret.

Reposing in St. Matthews Church, Ballymahon on Thursday, December 4 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, December 5 at 11am. Following Mass, Margaret will be laid to rest in Shrule Cemetery.

Annie (Nancy) Smith (née Pakenham), Ard na Gréine, Cavan Road, Kells, Meath / Granard, Longford

The death occurred peacefully after a long illness borne with great dignity and acceptance at her residence in the loving care of her family in her 86th year on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 of Annie (Nancy) Smith (née Pakenham), 10 Ard na Gréine, Cavan Road, Kells, Co Meath and formerly of Granard, Co Longford. 

Annie is predeceased by her parents, her husband PJ, sons Declan, Andrew and his wife Diane, sisters and brother.
Annie will be sadly missed by her daughters Jackie (Patrick) and Bridget, son Peter (Brigid), sisters May and Katie, her devoted grandchildren Cora, (Hailey and Ethan), Fiona, Annie and Aishling, Catherine, Peter, Heather, Helen and Kieran, relatives and a wide circle of friends.

Annie will repose at Muldoon Brothers Funeral Home, Bective Square, Kells A82 F9V4 on Wednesday, December 3 from 5.30pm to 8pm. Removal from her residence on Thursday morning, December 4 at 10.30am to arrive at St Colmcille's Church, Kells for Funeral Mass at 11am which can be viewed HERE, followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Nancy will be fondly remembered as a very friendly lady, devoted to her family and loved her game of bingo at many venues throughout Co Meath. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. May Her Gentle Soul Rest Peacefully In The Presence of God. House Private At All Time Please. 

Michael Kelly, Kinkillue, Abbeylara, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, in the loving care of his family and the staff of Our Lady's Manor Nursing Home, Edgeworthstown on Sunday, November 30, 2025 of Michael Kelly, Kinkillue, Abbeylara, Co Longford.

Predeceased by his parents Jack and Mary Kelly, brothers Frank, Paddy and James and sisters Mary and Ann. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Margaret, sons Michael Jnr and Martin, daughters Mary (O'Hara), Deirdre and Bernadette, brother Hugh, sons-in-law Michael and Jason, daughters-in-law Sharon and Marcella, grandchildren, great-grandchild, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. Reposing at Our Lady's Manor Nursing Home, Edgeworthstown (N39 VR04) from 5pm on Wednesday, December 3 concluding with prayers at 7pm. Removal from his home on Thursday, December 4 to St Bernard's Church, Abbeylara, arriving for 12 noon Funeral Mass, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. House private on Wednesday night,  December 3 and Thursday morning, December 4 please. Family flowers only; donations, if desired, to Longford Palliative Care. The family appreciates your kind co-operation at this sad time.

Kevin Egan, Bray, Wicklow / Clondra, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer borne with great dignity, in the exceptional care of St Vincent’s Private Hospital, with his loving family by his side on Monday, December 1, 2025 of Kevin Egan, Bray, Wicklow and formerly Clondra, Longford. 

His memory will be treasured forever by his wife Patricia (née Murphy); his children Nickcola, Christina, Martin, Sheldon and Jeffrey; his sons-in-law Keith and Jamie; partners Danielle and Rob, his grandchildren Christian, Nancy, Cocobelle, Bonny, Zélie-Rose, Molly and Brody. Son of the late Michael and May (née Feehily). Predeceased by his brothers PJ, Dermot and Gerry, and his sister Ann. He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Mary, Tom, Chrissy, Emily, Alfie, Paddy and Doreen, along with his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Professor Crown and his team in St Vincent’s Private Hospital, and to the management and staff — particularly Louise and Robert — at the Cairnhill Nursing Home, Bray, for their exceptional care, kindness and friendship. May He Rest in Peace.

Kevin’s Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, December 5 at 11am in The Church of the Most Holy Redeemer, Main Street, Bray, followed by burial in Kilternan Park Cemetery, Ballycorus Road, Kilternan, Dublin 18, D18 X22C. The Funeral Mass can be viewed online HERE.  

Sister Perpetua (Mary Patricia) Crerand, Foxford, Mayo / Longford

The death occurred peacefully at Mercy Sisters Care Centre, Derby on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 of Sister Perpetua (Mary Patricia) Crerand, Presentation Sister late of Matlock, England / Foxford, Co Mayo / Longford.

Sister Perpetua Crerand, pre-deceased by her beloved parents John and Alice, brothers Liam and Séan (Br. Oswald) and sisters Úna and Clare, will be sadly missed by her beloved Presentation Sisters, her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and relatives from the Crerand, Marsh and O’Reilly families and her friends. May Her Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.

Funeral Arrangements: Sister Perpetua will be received into the Convent Chapel, Matlock on Friday, December 5 at 5pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 6 at 11am in Matlock Convent Chapel and can be viewed HERE

Kathleen McWeeney (née Lavin), Derrywillow, Annaduff, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 of Kathleen McWeeney (née Lavin) Derrywillow, Aughamore, Co. Leitrim. 

Predeceased by her son James and brother Mel. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her husband Pat, sons Thomas and Patrick, brothers Seamus and Joe, daughters-in-law Caroline and Annnette, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. May Kathleen Rest in Peace.

Kathleen will repose at St. Mary's Church, Annaduff, Co. Leitrim (N41 CF54) on Wednesday, December 3 from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 4 at 12 noon followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

The death occurred peacefully at the Regional Hospital Mullingar on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 of Tony Laffere, Ballykilmurray, Tullamore, Offaly / Longford. Tony will be sadly missed by his son Aaron, Aaron's partner Kelly and Aaron's mother Yvonne, grandchild Freya, brothers Rory and his wife Carmel, Adrian and his partner Nicki, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mary Birkett (née Geelan), Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025 of Mary Birkett (nee Geelan), Suffolk, England and formerly of Dublin Street, Longford. 

Pre-deceased by her parents James and Bridget, brothers Gerry, Con, John and Dermot and by her beloved husband Ernest. Mary will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Theresa McCormack (née Brennan), Laragan, Elphin, Roscommon / Strokestown, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully, at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 30, 2025 of Theresa McCormack (née Brennan) Laragan, Elphin, Co. Roscommon.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Tom, sister Ita, brothers Gerry, Paddy, Sean, Mel, Michael and Noel. Much loved mother of John and Sheila (Cassidy). Theresa will be sadly missed and remembered forever by her son, daughter, John’s partner Carmel (McLoughlin), son-in-law Jonathan, cherished grandchildren Killian and Conor, sisters Carmel (Achill), Josephine and Trudy, brother Edmund, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Brady’s Funeral Home, Elphin (F45 Y168) on Wednesday, December 3 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Removal on Thursday morning, December 4 to Kiltrustan Church (F42 N573) arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Theresa will be laid to rest afterwards in Kiltrustan Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family aged 91 years on Saturday, November 22, 2025 of Teresa Morris (née Gilgan), Hornchurch, Essex, UK, formerly of Kilmacowen, Ballisodare, Co. Sligo, and The Square, (The Spar Supermarket), Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim.

Teresa is predeceased by husband John, son John, parents Patrick and Margaret (née Bree), and her brothers & sisters Michael James, Kathleen, Myra, Peggy, Patrick and Mary. Teresa will be deeply missed and remembered always by her loving children Theresa, Patricia, Geraldine, Pauline, Alan & daughter-in-law Nam, Margaret & son-in-law Kevin; her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. May Teresa’s gentle soul rest in peace.

Teresa’s funeral will take place on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 10:45am in St Alban’s Catholic Church, Langdale Gardens, Hornchurch, RM12 5LA. Interment will follow at 12:15pm at South Essex Cemetery, Ockendon Rd, Upminster, RM14 2UY.
