The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 of Thomas (Tommy) Carolan, Cloonmacart, Drumlish, Co Longford.

Recently predeceased by his wife Teresa (nee Caldwell), his parents Bernard and Mary, brothers and sisters. Deeply regretted by his son Mark, daughters Sinead (Burke) and Deirdre (Skelly), grandchildren Aoibheann, Molly, Sarah, Caoimhe and Tom, sons-in-law Padraig and Michael, sister Finola (McGinnity, Longford), brother John Joe (London), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousin, neighbours, relatives and friends. May Tommy Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road, Longford (N39 EC81) on Friday evening, November 28 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Tommy's funeral mass will take place on Saturday, November 29 in St Mary's Church, Drumlish at 11am. Followed by burial in Drumlish local cemetery.  Funeral mass can be streamed live HERE. Catherine (Kitty) McNamara (née Dennigan), Glannagh, Moatfarrell, Ballinalee, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the exceptional care of the staff in St.Joseph's Care Centre, Longford on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 of Catherine (Kitty) McNamara (nee Dennigan), Glannagh, Moatfarrell, Ballinalee, Co Longford.

Predeceased by her husband Peter. Deeply regretted by her loving children Ann, John, Mark, Catherine and Edel, her sister Teresa, grandchildren Doireann, Alex, Donnacha, Clare, Niamh, Fionn, Martha, Hugh and Ellen, sons-in-law David and Mark, daughters-in-law Brigid and Tara, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends. Rest in Peace.

Reposing in St. Oliver's Church, Cullyfad (N39 CD39) on Thursday, November 27 from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral Mass in St Oliver's Church, Cullyfad on Friday, November 28 at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Aughafin Cemetery, Edgeworthstown.

Michael (Mickey) Connaughton, Knock, Lanesboro, Longford / Lanesboro, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 of Michael (Mickey) Connaughton, Knock, Lanesborough, Co Longford. 

Devoted husband of Mamie and much loved Dad to Tracy, Sinéad and the late Murry. He will be forever missed by his heartbroken family, twin brother Seanie, brother Josie, sons-in-law Donal Hogan and Barry Hogan, adored grandchildren Ella, Lily, Daniel, Rían, Faye, Michael and Seán, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many good friends. He is also predeceased by his parents Bernadette and Michael, brothers Noel, Declan and Lorcan and his sister Mary. May Mickey rest in peace.

Reposing at the home of his daughter and son-in-law (Sinéad and Barry Hogan) at Magheraveen, Lanesborough N39 KP02 on Thursday evening, November 27 from 4pm until 7pm. Removal on Friday morning, November 28 arriving to St Mary’s Church, Lanesboro N39 TN99 for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Clonbonny Cemetery.

Those attending the removal on Thursday evening, November 27 are kindly asked to adhere to the traffic plan in place – approaching the Hogan family home from the Ballymahon Road and exiting via the Longford Road. The Connaughton family would sincerely like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses who helped care for Mickey. They’d also like to acknowledge their friends and neighbours for their kindness at this time.

Helen Kelly (née Cosgrove), Melkernagh, Lismacaffrey, Westmeath / Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nursing staff of Laurel Lodge Longford surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 of Helen Kelly (nee Cosgrove), Melkernagh, Lismacaffrey, Westmeath / Longford.

Predeceased by her husband and best friend Peter, sisters Mary Cosgrove, Kathleen Kelly/Mulligan, brothers in law and sisters in law. Sadly missed by her adoring family, sons Tony (Dublin), Peter (Cloughernal), Martin (Moydow), daughters Dolores Torsney (England), Pauline Crowe (Drumlish), Geraldine ORourke (Mullinalaghta), Olivia Coen (Mayo), sisters Peggy Mulligan and Bridie McCabe, brother in-law Phil, daughter in-laws Maureen and Helen, son in-laws Gerry, John,  Sean and Neill, her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

Reposing at Laurel Lodge Nursing Home Longford N39XE92 on Friday, November 28 from 6-8pm concluding with prayers for Helen. Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 29 at St Mary’s Church, Boherquill, Streete N91YY07 at 11am and burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Liam O'Rourke, High Street, Skibbereen, Cork / Granard, Longford

The death occurred peacefully at Duleek Nursing Home, Co Meath on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 of Liam O'Rourke, late of High Street, Skibbereen, Co Cork and formerly of Granard, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Kathleen, his brothers Joe, Jimmy, Hughie and twin brother Sean. Beloved husband of Helen and much loved father of Mark, Maeve and Claire. Sadly missed by his brother Frank, sisters-in-law Angela, Geraldine and Marie, brother-in-law Michael, daughter-in-law Saranne and sons-in-law Carlos and Fran. Liam was a kind and loving grandad to Breffni, Bronwyn, Alex, Fabio, Javier, Finn and Kila. He will be fondly remembered by his nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and circle of friends in the Skibbereen community. May Liam's kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

Reposing at Romie O'Donovan's Funeral Home, North Street, Skibbereen on Friday, November 28 from 6pm to 8pm followed by prayers. Kathleen Lagarde (née Doyle), Enaghan, Aughnacliffe, Longford / Arva, Cavan

The death occurred in the Netherlands on Monday, November 24, 2025 of Kathleen Lagarde (née Doyle) Culemborg, Netherlands and formerly Enaghan, Co Longford.

Predeceased by her parents Brian and Mary Anne Doyle, sister Siobhán, brothers Liam, Seamus and Michael. Kathleen will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, daughter Sabrina (Chris), son Andrew (Laura), their father Bert, her adored grandchildren, Quinn and Kian, brothers Noel (Kathleen) and Vincent, sisters Bridie (Randolph Applewhaite, England), Mary (Mick Flavin Drumlish), Claire (Dessie Ronan, Cavan), Bernadette (Frank Meaney U S.A), Teresa (Pat Finnegan, Cavan), Carmel (Sean Duffy, Legga) and Martina (Peter Donohoe, Dromard), nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and many friends.

Funeral will take place on Tuesday December 2 in Culemborg, Netherlands at 10am (9am Irish time), followed by cremation.  Funeral will be live streamed HERE.

Mary Birkett (née Geelan), Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025 of Mary Birkett (nee Geelan), Suffolk, England and formerly of Dublin Street, Longford. 

Pre-deceased by her parents James and Bridget, brothers Gerry, Con, John and Dermot and by her beloved husband Ernest. Mary will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Mary will leave Glennon’s Funeral Home on Thursday morning, December 4 to arrive at St Mel’s Cathedral for the Mass of the Resurrection at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE

Private Walter Gibbons, Cornashinnagh, Four Mile House, Roscommon

The death occurred suddenly, but peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 of Private Walter Gibbons, Cornashinnagh, Four Mile House, Roscommon.

Predeceased by his parents Peter and Gretta, brothers Martin and Colm, sisters Carmel and Helen. Sadly missed by his adored daughter Emma and her mother Teresa, his sisters Gertie, Bernadette, Pauline, Leonie , Miriam and Jacinta, his brothers Gerard and Joseph, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and a wide circle of extended family, friends and neighbours. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at McHugh’s Funeral Home, Strokestown (F42 RK72) on Sunday, November 30 from 3pm-6pm. Mass of the Resurrection will take place on Monday, December 1 at 11am, in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown, Burial afterwards in Ballinderry Cemetery. House private please. Martin Farrell, Rosslare Strand, Wexford / Drumlish, Longford

The recent death has occurred at Castlebridge Nursing Home, Co Wexford following a long illness on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 of Martin Farrell of Rosslare Strand, Co Wexford and originally from Drumlish, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his beloved wife, Eileen (nee Wall), his parents Beesie & James, his sister Kathleen (Milton), his brothers John & Denis, his sisters-in-law Tess (O'Mahony) & Josephine, and his brothers-in-law Sean (O'Callaghan), Garrett (O'Mahony) & Joe (Milton). Martin is survived by his children (& best friends) Seamus, Sean & Aine, his brother James (Jimmy), his sisters-in-law Siobhain (O'Callaghan) & Marion, Sean's partner Lindsay, his many nieces and nephews from both the Longford & Cork branches of his family, along with his wide circle of friends from Rosslare & beyond. May He Rest In Peace.

Reposing at Mulligans Funeral Home, the Faythe, Wexford town (Y35 DH6V) between 4pm and 7pm on Thursday, November 27, 2025. Funeral mass at St Brigid's Church, Rosslare Strand (Y35 R298) at 12 noon, Friday, November 28 and burial afterwards in the new cemetery, Tagoat (Y35 VH24).

Margaret (Maggie) Reilly, Rossduff, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford

The recent death has occurred peacefully in the loving care of Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, in her 96th year on Monday, November 24, 2025 of Margaret (Maggie) Reilly Rossduff, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford.

Maggie is predeceased by her parents Charlie and Margaret, brothers Charlie and Felix, her sisters Bridgie and Annie. Sadly missed by her brother John, nephews and nieces, relatives, neighbours and all her dear friends.We would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Laurel Lodge for the loving care they gave Maggie.

Reposing at Laurel Lodge Nursing Home Longford N39XE92 on Thursday, November 27 from 6pm-8pm followed by prayer for Maggie. Arriving at St Colmcille Church Aughnacliffe on Friday, November 28 for funeral mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Patrick Ralph Bray, Wicklow / Leopardstown, Dublin / Athlone, Westmeath / Newtownforbes, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, in the exceptional care of Kilcoole Lodge Nursing Home on Sunday, November 23, 2025 of Patrick Ralph of Bray, Leopardstown, Athlone, Newtownforbes and formerly of ESB.

Beloved husband and best friend of the late Martina for over 60 years, much loved father of John, Patrick, Vincent, David, Amanda, Georgina, Rachelle and Isabel, father-in-law of Maureen, Inji, Linda, Chris, Sean and Jim, cherished grandfather of Jordan and Jamie, Sequoia and Tenaya, Paul, Jim and David, Finn and Eve, Jade, Jim and Brendan, brother of the late Fr. John, William J., Annie and Mary and brother-in-law of Rina O’Rahilly and the late Imelda Flanagan and Jacqueline McGreal; he will be sadly missed by all his family, relatives and friends.

Rev Fr Pat Reilly PP, Norbertine Order, Donabate, Dublin / Granard, Longford

The death occurred suddenly at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin on Friday, November 21, 2025 of Rev Fr Pat Reilly, 13 Seaview, Portrane, Co Dublin and formerly Springtown, Granard, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents Phil and Mary, sisters Betty and Maureen and sister in law Angela. Sadly missed by his brother Phil (Maureen) nieces Elaine (Donal), Una (Mike) Claire (New York) and nephews Liam (Marian) and Sean Marren, (New York) , grand-nieces, grand-nephews, his many loyal friends and parishioners in Donabate and Portrane. Fr Pat rest in peace.

Teresa Hudson (née Flynn), Aughadrumderg Cloone Road, Mohill, Co Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of Shannon Lodge Nursing Home Rooskey on Monday, November 24, 2025 of Teresa Hudson (nèe Flynn) Aughadrumderg, Cloone road, Mohill, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by her parents William (Sonny) and Rose Ann Flynn, her sisters Peggie, Patsy, Betty, Mary, Kathleen, Ita, Doreen , Rosie, Brothers Liam and Francis, her nephews Richie Flynn, David, Gerry, Roy Kelly and niece Debbie Kelly. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Helen Flynn, extended family and friends. May Teresa Rest in Peace.
