The death occurred peacefully with her family by her side at University Hospital, Galway on Sunday, September 28, 2025 of Patricia Groarke (née Duignan), Drumlish, Co Longford and formerly of Aughurine, Ballaghaderreen and

Ballinameen, Boyle, Co Roscommon (April 18, 1961 - September 28, 2025).

Predeceased by her parents Dominic and Josephine, sister Esther (Owens) and her brothers Padraic and Hallie. Sadly missed and remembered with love by her daughter Siobhan (Duffy), sons Jimmy and David, their father Tommy, grandchildren Molly, Jack, Byron, Devyn, Ella and Millie, brother Joseph, sisters Edel (Murray), Yvonne (Duffy), son-in-law Mark, daughters-in-law Elaine and Marie, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she Rest in Peace.

Padraig Stephenson, Holloway Road, London and late of Farneyhoogan, Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in London on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 of Padraig Stephenson, Holloway Road, London and late of Farneyhoogan, Longford town.  

Predeceased by his parents, Mel and Evelyn, his sister Anne and brother, Brendan. Deeply regretted by his sisters Mary, Helen, Imelda, Therese and Paula, his brothers Mel and Donal, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, his lifelong friend Helena and family and a wide circle of friends. May he rest in peace.

Martin Molloy, Lisrenny, Cloncallow, Ballymahon, Longford / Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully in the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 27, 2025 of Martin Molloy, Lisrenny, Cloncallow, Ballymahon, Longford and formerly Windfield House, Roscommon.

Deeply regretted by his loving wife Ann, his daughters Siobhán, Aisling, Deirdre, and Emer, his sons Gary and Shane. Sons-in -law Tom, John and Shawn, daughters-in-law Ciara and Jasmine and his sister Millie, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing this Sunday evening, September 28 in the church of The Immaculate Conception Forgney (N91 AE35) from 5pm until 7pm followed by prayers.

Funeral mass on Monday, September 29 at 11am followed by burial in Abbeyshrule cemetery. House private and family flowers only please.

Charles (Charlie) Latimer, Cloonageeher, Bornacoola, Leitrim / Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the doctors, nurses and staff at Lough Erril Nursing Home, Mohill on Saturday, September 27, 2025 of Charles (Charlie) Latimer, (Cattle Dealer), Cloonageeher, Bornacoola, Leitrim / Longford. Recently predeceased by his wife Philomena.

Sadly missed by his daughters Pamela and Georgina Moorhead, his son Raymond, daughter in law Kathleen, son in law Floyd, grandchildren Simon and Gemma, brothers in law, sisters in law, relatives, neighbours, and many friends. “At Rest”.

Charlie will repose at Lough Erril Nursing Home Oratory (N41XE39) on Sunday, September 28 from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral Service on Monday, September 29 at 2pm in St Paul Church, Newtownforbes, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Nicholas Madden, Ferefad, Ardagh Road, Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 of Nicholas Madden, Ferefad, Ardagh Road, Longford Town, Longford, aged 24 years. 

Pre-deceased by his beloved father Dave. Nicholas will be very sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, his beloved mother Marie, dear brother Sergi, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, the caring staff of Nua Healthcare, Menlough and his many friends. May he rest in peace. 

Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, September 29 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am , interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE.  Family flowers please. House private please.

Shanty Paul, Slí Moinear, Moydow, Longford

The death occurred peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025 of Shanty Paul, Slí Moinear, Moydow, Co. Longford. 

Shanty will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, beloved husband Sebastian, daughters Emil anna and Alana, son Evin, sister, brothers, nieces, nephews, relatives, work colleagues and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Sunday, September 28 from 4pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Denis Doyle, Grangebeg, Raharney, Westmeath

The death occurred in Bathgate, Scotland on Friday, July 11, 2025 of Denis Doyle Bathgate, Scotland and formerly Grangebeg, Raharney, Co. Westmeath.

Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Philomena, sister Marian and brother-in-law Joe Ross. Beloved dad of Hannah and Becky. Adored grandad of Mia, Mason, Madison, Denny, Darragh, Mack and baby Ronnie. Denis will be forever loved and missed by his daughters, grandchildren, brothers Joe [Killucan], Gerry [Rooskey], Oliver [Castlewellan], Michael [Raharney], sisters Patricia Farrell [Kilbeggan], Terry Wynne [Leixlip], Ena Coyle [Milltown, Malbay], Kathleen Whelan [Moate], Rose Ross [Dundalk], Bernie Conophy [London], brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family relatives, and friends. At Peace.

Marion O’Neill (née Corcoran), Castlepollard, Westmeath / Meath

The death occurred suddenly, in Spain on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 of Marion O’Neill (née Corcoran), Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath and formerly of Kilskyre, Co. Meath.

Beloved wife of Martin, cherished mother of Aaron, Janine, Stephen, Terry, Tara and Dyna, and adored grandmother of eleven grandchildren, she will be deeply missed by her adoring family, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. May Marion Rest in Peace.

Marion will be repatriated to her home in Castlepollard, Co Westmeath. A wake open to family and friends will be held at Shaw’s Funeral Home, Bishopsgate Street, Mullingar (N91 RY65), followed by private return to her home in Castlepollard. Funeral Mass will take place in St Michael’s Church, Castlepollard, with burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Collinstown. Dates and times to follow.

In memory of the joy and colour Marion brought to every life she touched, the family warmly welcomes colourful flowers. As per Marion’s wishes, please no lilies. The family appreciates your kind co-operation at this sad time.

Sr Winifred Donlon, Manchester, UK & Moydow, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the sisters and staff of St Euphrasia's Convent, Chain road, Manchester on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 of Sr Winifred Donlon, Manchester, UK and Moydow, Co Longford. 

Sr Winifred was pre-deceased by her parents Patrick and Lena Donlon and siblings; Jack, Betty, Tom, Paddy, Mel, Fr James OFM, Charlie and Teresa, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Much loved and deeply regretted by her Good Shepherd sisters, her brother Tony (Oregon USA), nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and extended family.

May she rest in peace. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Conor Gearty, Abbeylara, Co Longford

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the unexpected passing on Thursday, September 11, 2025 of Professor Conor Anthony Gearty Kentish Town, London; formerly of Abbeylara, County Longford. 

A distinguished human rights lawyer and proud Longford man, Conor was a fantastic husband, an adored dad, a wonderful brother and son, and a warm generous friend to many. He will be deeply missed by his wife Aoife, his children Eliza, Owen, Èile and Fiadh, his mother Margot, his brother Frank, his sisters Rhona, Catherine, Margaret and Sarah, their partners and children, his in-laws, and his wide circle of friends, neighbours and colleagues. He is predeceased by his late wife Diane and his father Enda.

The funeral will take place in London and details will be shared here shortly. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. May he rest in power and peace.

Seamus Tannian, Teffia Park, Longford and Queensland, Australia

On behalf of the entire Tannian and Czislowski family, we are bereft to announce the death of Seamus/James/Jimmy Tannian, Teffia Park, Longford and Queensland, Australia (October 5, 1944 - August 30, 2025), the day we thought and hoped would never come. Our family in Australia, Ireland, England, Spain, USA and the local Sunshine Coast, Queensland community has lost a bright light, radiant servant, leader, mentor, musician and friend. 

Seamus was a beloved husband to Linda, father to Nicola (& Sylvia), Rob (& Tania), Tracey, Sean, Kristan (& Chanelle) & Jay.
Brother to Michael (& Wendy) and Tom (& Barbara), Uncle to Fiona, Deirdre, Gail, Siobhan, Peter, Ruth, Christopher and Clare.
Grandfather to Teagan, Leusion, Kyran, Gemma, Talia, Georgia, Vienna, Thalia, Nolan, Caitlyn, Dannie, Ivy, Ava, Jordan, Aeden and Serene. Great-grandfather to Xavier, Kyron & Levi.
He was greatly loved and will be forever missed. He touched so many life's, if you knew him we know you are also grieving. 
Heaven is surely is having an "auld jam session today". Our loss is heaven's gain.
May the journey you go forth on be gentle and kind, and may the gates of heaven open wide to welcome you home. until we meet again, may angels guard your rest. Rest in Eternal Peace Seamus.
You were a scholar, a gentleman, a musician and a poet. You were a true son of Eire.

Eileen Sheppard (née Morgan), Bawnboy, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in Javea, Spain on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 of Eileen Sheppard (nee Morgan) Bawnboy, Cavan and Javea, Spain and formerly of Ealing, London.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Keith, her parents John and Eileen, and her brothers James, Richard, and Frank. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her brother Carl Morgan (Kells), her sister Anne McManus (Newtownforbes), the extended Sheppard family, her brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbours. May Eileen Rest in Peace.
