Breda Fitzgerald (née Donnelly), Wheatfield House, Bawn, Moydow, Longford / Westmeath

The death occurred, suddenly after a long illness in her home on Friday, August 29th 2025, of Breda Fitzgerald (née Donnelly), Wheatfield House, Bawn, Moydow, Longford and formerly of Lough Owel, Mullingar, Westmeath. 

Predeceased by her parents Alice and Sean, sister Anne Yorke and brother Sean. Breda will be sadly missed and always remembered by her loving family, husband and best friend John (Sean), daughters Kathy (Moydow), Karen Coyle (Carrigglass) and Lesley (Kenagh), son John (Seanie) Sligo, sons-in-law Eddie Coyle and Jason O'Brien, her adored grandchildren Edward (Australia), Kelly, Jorja, Uisneach and Elijah, sister Kay Davis (Skerries), brother Paddy Donnelly (Cornamona, Galway), sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and her dear friends.

Thinking of you Breda is easy, We will do it every day But missing you will be a heartache, That will never go a away. May her Gentle Soul Rest in Peace.

Reposing in Connell's Funeral Home, Church Street, Longford, N39 KN66 on Sunday, August 31 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Removal from her home on Tuesday, September 2 to arrive to St Mary's Church, Moydow, for Funeral Mass at 12.30pm, followed by removal to Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Rd, Cavan. Funeral Mass can be viewed live HERE. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to the Irish Heart Foundation c/o Connell Funeral Directors or any family member. Family home private please. We as a family would like to thank Dr Paddy Breslin, Dr Sarah Breslin, Anne Toher (Respiratory Nurse) for all their help and support.

Garda Martin Reilly, 24 Loch Eala, Loch Gowna, Cavan / Aughnacliffe, Longford

The death occurred unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 of Garda Martin Reilly 24 Loch Eala, Loch Gowna, Cavan and formerly of Smear Hill, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford.

Martin (Dusty),  predeceased by his grandparents Tommy and Rose Reilly and Ned McEvoy, aunts Oonagh McEvoy and Bernie Coffey. Martin will be forever missed and always remembered with love by his heartbroken family, his fiancée and childhood sweetheart Donna (Heslin), his beloved parents Paddy and Maura, sister Linda and her husband Sean, brother Cathal and his partner Gemma, his dear granny Mary McEvoy, his cherished nephew and nieces, Aoibhinn, Aaron, Freya and Isla his god-daughter, uncles, aunts, relatives neighbours, friends and his work colleagues in An Garda Síochána. Also not forgetting his delightful canine friends Charlie & Dash / Prince & Rusty. Loving and kind in all his ways, Upright and good till the end of his days.

Sincere and true in heart and mind. Beautiful memories left behind. Thank you for a lifetime of memories, for your love, kindness, help and encouragement. Forever in our hearts, Rest in Peace Martin.

Reposing on Saturday, August 30 in Connell’s Funeral Home, Church Street, Longford, N39 KN66 from 3pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Removal from his home on Sunday, August 31 to arrive at St. Colmcille’s Church, Aughnacliffe, N39K603, for Funeral Mass at 2pm. Following Mass, Martin will be laid to rest in the family plot in the adjoining cemetery, Family flowers only please. House strictly private please.

Brona Conlon (née O'Brien), 2 Parkside, Ballymahon, Co Longford, N39 AD65 / Carrigallen, Leitrim

The death occurred, peacefully after a brief illness, on Thursday, August 28, 2025 of Brona Conlon (nee O'Brien) 2 Parkside, Ballymahon, Co Longford, N39 AD65 and Carrigallen, Leitrim. 

Predeceased by her father Michael, mother Marion and brother Fergus. Brona will be deeply missed by her husband Arthur, sister Orla, brothers Francis, Fintan, Declan and Damian - Ciara, Aidan and Saoirse - brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours, colleagues and a wide circle of friends. May She Rest in Peace.

Brona will repose at her home, 2 Parkside, Ballymahon, N39 AD65 this Sunday afternoon, August 31 from 3pm until 7pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, September 1 at 11am in St Matthew’s Church, Ballymahon, followed by burial in Shrule Cemetery. Brona's funeral mass may be viewed HERE.

Rose (Rosie) Sheridan (née Smyth), Abbeyview, Abbeylara, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the tender care of the staff at Our Lady’s Manor, Edgeworthstown, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 of Rose (Rosie) Sheridan (née Smyth), Abbeyview, Abbeylara, Longford. Predeceased by her beloved husband Joe, brothers Fr Jim, Andy, Tommy, Peter, Paddy, Phil and John.

Rosie will be sadly missed by her, sons Andrew and John, daughters Rosemary and Josephine, daughter-in-law Alison (Connolly), sons-in-law Kieran Williams and Damian Duignan, her adoring grandchildren Ronan, Brian, Eoghan, Mark, Aisling, Blathnaid, Dearbhla, Susan and Eimear, sisters Sarah, Martha and Florrie, brother Frank, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and a wide circle of friends and neighbours. May She Rest In Peace.

Reposing at Smith’s Funeral Home Barrack Street, Granard, Co. Longford, (Eircode N39AX97) on Saturday, August 30 from 4pm to 6pm. Funeral Mass on Sunday, August 31 at 3pm in St Bernard’s Church, Abbeylara followed by Christian burial in Carra Cemetery. House private please.

Nuala Costello, Aughdrumderg, Mohill, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the exceptional care of the nurses and staff at North West Hospice, Sligo on Sunday, August 31, 2025 of Nuala Costello, Aughdrumderg, Cloone Road, Mohill, Leitrim / Drumcatten, Fenagh. 

Nuala leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. Nuala will be deeply missed by her sisters Eilish Bradley and Emily Leddy, brothers-in-law Jack Bradley and Sean Leddy, her adored nieces and nephews Raymond, Rachel, Rory, Emer, Deborah, John and Mark, her treasured grandnieces and grandnephews, and her many dear friends. Nuala's warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Nuala will be fondly remembered and forever missed. May Nuala Rest in Peace.

Nuala will be reposing at her residence Aughdrumderg, Mohill (N41D861) on Monday, September 1 from 5pm until 8pm. House strictly private at all other times please. Removal on Tuesday, September 2 to St Patrick's Church, Mohill for Funeral Mass at 12 noon, followed by burial in Fenagh Abbey Cemetery. Nuala’s Funeral Mass may be viewed HERE. Seamus Owens, Kilmore, Streete, Westmeath

The death occurred peacefully, in the loving care of his family and the staff of Our Lady's Manor Nursing Home, Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford on Saturday, August 30, 2025 of Seamus Owens, Kilmore, Streete, Westmeath.

Predeceased by his parents Hughie and Annie Owens, brother Patsy and sister Ann. Sadly missed by his sister Mary Conaty (Loughduff), partner Nora Kerrigan, brother-in-law Eamon Conaty, sister-in-law Maureen (Kilmore), nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends. May Seamus Rest In Peace. 

Reposing at Our Lady's Manor Nursing Home, Edgeworthstown (N39 VR04) on Sunday, August 31 from 6pm to 8pm. Removal to St Mary's Church, Boherquill on Monday, September 1 arriving for 1pm Funeral Mass, with burial afterwards in St Fintan's Cemetery, Boherquill. House private please. The family appreciates your kind co-operation at this sad time.

John Maguire, Sandyford, Dublin / Rathowen, Westmeath

The death occurred peacefully, at home in the loving arms of his beloved wife Geraldine, after a short illness, Motor Neuron Disease, bravely borne on Friday, August 29, 2025 of John Maguire, Sandyford, Dublin / Rathowen, Co Westmeath. 

Predeceased by his cherished son Shane, his father Bartholomew and sister Teresa. John will be forever loved and deeply missed by his devoted wife Geraldine, adored daughter Serena and son in law Mark, loving Mother Margaret, treasured grandchildren Grace, Dylan and Ruby. Sean, Ella and their mum Louise, his brothers Bart, Kevin and Dermot, sisters Margaret, Caroline and Valerie, brother-in-law Frankie, extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends.

John’s kind heart, quiet strength and intellectual brilliance will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. A true Gentleman. Respected in life, lamented in death.

Reposing at his home on Saturday, August 30 from 5pm until Sunday, August 31 at 8pm. Funeral Mass will be held in St Mary’s Church, Sandyford Village (D18 E5R8), on Monday, September 1 at 11am, followed by burial in Kilternan Cemetery Park (D18 X22C). Christopher McLoughlin, Lagrangeville, New York and formerly, Drumsna, Co Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 of Christopher McLoughlin Lagrangeville, New York and formerly of Drumsna, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by his parents Thomas James and Monica, brothers Kevin, Emmet, Brendan, Aloysious and Tommy and sisters Maureen, Kathleen and Monica. Christopher is survived by his loving wife Mary, his children and their spouses Christopher & Kimberly, Kieran & Dana, Peter & Ellha and Sinead & Anthony, his ten adoring grandchildren, his siblings Oliver McLoughlin & Nancy Duignan, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, August 29 at 10am (local time) at St. Denis Cemetery, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, New York, followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery. Mass will be offered for the repose of his soul in the Church of the Immaculate Conception Drumsna, on Sunday August 31 at 9.30am. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Eileen Sheppard (née Morgan), Bawnboy, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in Javea, Spain on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 of Eileen Sheppard (nee Morgan) Bawnboy, Cavan and Javea, Spain and formerly of Ealing, London.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Keith, her parents John and Eileen, and her brothers James, Richard, and Frank. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her brother Carl Morgan (Kells), her sister Anne McManus (Newtownforbes), the extended Sheppard family, her brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbours. May Eileen Rest in Peace.
