Mary Jordan (née Walsh), Barry, Kenagh, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully after a long illness on Friday, August 22, 2025 of Mary Jordan (nee Walsh) Barry, Kenagh, Co Longford.

Predeceased by her son Patrick, her parents Bridgie and Joe and her brother's P.J and Tom. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving husband James and devoted sons and daughters Caroline, Bernard, David, Cathy, Helen and their partners Trevor, Bekah, Tara, Ed and Danny. Her brothers Jody, Ned, Dermot and Martin. Her beloved grandchildren Ava, James, Ellie, Killian, Evan, Theo, Daniel, Daisy, Hallie and Elijah, mother-in-law Maureen, father-in-law Bernard, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours. Rest in Peace.

Reposing in St Dominic's Church Kenagh on Sunday afternoon, August 24 from 4pm until 7pm followed by prayers. Funeral Mass on Monday, August 25 at 12 noon followed by burial in Carrickedmond cemetery. Family flowers only please donations in lieu to the palliative care team Longford HEREHouse private please.

Bridie (Bridget) Kearney (née Reynolds), 72 McEoin Park, Longford

The death occurred unexpectedly in the care of the staff of Mullingar Regional Hospital, surrounded by her heartbroken family on Saturday, August 23, 2025 of Bridie (Bridget) Kearney (née Reynolds), 72 McEoin Park, Longford and formerly of Bornacoola, Co Leitrim. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband Joe, brothers Luke, Michael, Seamus, Packie and John-Tom, sister Mary. Bridie will be sadly missed by her loving family, daughters Joanne Fallon (Dublin) and Breda Scully (Longford), son Michael, sons-in-law Michael & Padraic, her adored grandchildren Rebecca, Rachael, Adrianna, Grace, Lucy, Michaela and Chloe, brother Ned (Westmeath), sisters Julia Reynolds (Fenagh) and Margaret Heneghan (England), nieces and nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. We hold you close within our hearts, And there you shall remain, To walk with us throughout our lives, Until we meet again. Rest in Peace.

Reposing in Connell's Funeral Home, Church St, Longford, N39 KN66 on Tuesday, August 26 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 7.30pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, August 27 at 11am in St Mel's Cathedral, Longford. Following Mass, Bridie will be laid to rest in the family plot in Ballymacormack Cemetery. John Diamond, Lisnanagh, Edgeworthstown, Longford

The death occurred unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, August 21, 2025 of John Diamond, Lisnanagh, Edgeworthstown, Longford. Predeceased by his parents Leslie and Elizabeth, brothers Robert and Andy.

John will be sadly missed by his loving family, brother Mark, sisters Annette and Laura, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, brothers-in-law Thomas and Nathan, Mark's partner Amy, relatives, good neighbours and friends. "Come with me by yourself to a quiet place" Mark 6:31

To arrive at St. John's Church, Edgeworthstown on Sunday evening, August 24 at 6pm. Funeral Service at 2pm on Monday, August 25 in St John's Church. Burial afterwards in Corboy churchyard.

Bernard McCarthy, Castletown Estate, Leixlip, Kildare / Legan, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in Our Lady's Hospice, Harold's Cross, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 22, 2025 of Bernard McCarthy, Castletown Estate, Leixlip, Kildare and formerly of Legan, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret and brothers Patrick and Gerard. Bernard will be sadly missed by his children Lorraine, Geraldine, Ciarán, Margaret and Gráinne, sons-in-law Philip and Ian, daughter-in-law Annie, Geraldine’s Fiancé Patrick, Gráinne’s partner André, his beloved and adored grandchildren Isobel, Sophie, Lily, Anna, Jane, Seán and Rosie, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family and a large circle of friends. May Bernard Rest In Peace.

Reposing at Oliver Reilly's Funeral Home, Leinster Street, Maynooth, (W23V99E) on Monday, August 25 from 5pm to 8pm with prayers at 7:30pm. Removal from the Funeral Home by Oliver Reilly Funeral Directors on Tuesday, August 26 at approximately 10:30am to arrive at Church of Our Lady’s Nativity, Leixlip for 11am Funeral Mass, followed by burial in Confey Cemetery. James (Jim) Holmes, Rathfarnham, Dublin / Longford

The death occurred suddenly while enjoying a cycling holiday in Serbia with his beloved wife Bernie on Saturday, August 16, 2025 of James (Jim) Holmes, Rathfarnham, Dublin / Longford. 

Predeceased by his father Peter, his mother Eileen and his brother Tom. Deeply regretted by his dear wife and best friend Bernie, beloved sons David and Bernard, sister Helen, nieces and nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and his many friends and colleagues.

Reposing in Fanagan's Funeral Home, Dundrum, D14 F3X2 on Monday evening, August 25 from 5pm to 7pm. Removal on Tuesday morning August 26 to the Church of the Divine Word, Marlay Grange arriving for Funeral Mass at 11.30am followed by burial in Mount Venus Cemetery.

The death occurred peacefully, in the exceptional care of the staff at Árus Carolan Nursing Unit, Mohill, surrounded by his loving family aged 89 years, on Thursday, August 21, 2025 of Seamus Ward, Hill Street, Mohill, Co Leitrim and formerly Rosharry, Mohill, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary Kate, sisters Maura Stenson, Carrick-on-Shannon, Kathleen Lowe, Carrick-on-Shannon, infant sister Nancy, brothers Sean and Michael (Mike Joe), Rosharry, and his baby grandson Daniel Murphy, Clonboney.Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving wife Margaret, daughters Joan (Murphy), Clonboney and Regina, Sligo, sons-in-law Carl Murphy and Liam O'Callaghan, grandchildren Adam, David and Sarah, sister-in-law Breege Mitchell, Keash, nieces and nephews Gerard, Patricia, Helen, Kathleen, Michelle, Marie, Brendan, John and Chris, niece-in-law, nephews-in-law, cousins and their extended families, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposing at his home on Hill Street, Mohill, (Eircode N41 R7IO) on Saturday August 23 from 6pm to 8pm. Removal on Sunday, August 24 to St Patrick's Church, Mohill for Funeral Mass at 3pm, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Thomas McGovern, Gubnagree, Bawnboy, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at the North West Hospice Sligo on Thursday, August 21, 2025 of Thomas McGovern Gubnagree, Bawnboy, Cavan and late of Lough Erril Nursing Home, Mohill, Co. Leitrim.

Deeply regretted by his family, friends and neighbours. May Tommy's gentle soul rest in peace. 

Tommy's remains will arrive at Saint Patrick's Church, Corlough Via Corbally Lane at 2pm on Saturday, August 23 for Mass of The Resurrection, followed by burial in the family plot in the adjoining cemetery.

Niall Brady, Killadream, Loughduff, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully after an illness borne with dignity and courage on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 of Niall Brady, Harlaxton & Denton, Lincolnshire, England and Killadream, Loughduff, Co Cavan. Recently predeceased by his father Charlie.

Deeply regretted and dearly missed by his beloved children, Ciarán, Ailish and Danny, their mother Lisa, and Ciarán’s fiancée Jo, his mother Detta, his siblings Ann Marie (TP), Fionnuala (Francie), Cathal (Emer), Colm (Róisín) and Shane (Vanda), his nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, his former colleagues in the Kelly Group and his many friends. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam uasal.

A private family ceremony prior to cremation will take place in Grantham on Monday, August 18, followed by a wake in the Welby Arms, Denton, Grantham, England NG32 1LG at 12:30pm, where all can gather to offer support, remember and celebrate Niall’s life.

Niall’s ashes will be brought to Ireland the following week and will rest at his home in Killadream, Loughduff, Co Cavan (H12C9X7), where all are welcome to meet his family, pay their respects and remember Niall on Friday, August 29 from 4pm to 8pm. Niall’s funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, August 30 at 12 noon in St Joseph’s Church, Loughduff (H12F968) followed by interment of his ashes in the local cemetery. Eileen Sheppard (née Morgan), Bawnboy, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in Javea, Spain on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 of Eileen Sheppard (nee Morgan) Bawnboy, Cavan and Javea, Spain and formerly of Ealing, London.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Keith, her parents John and Eileen, and her brothers James, Richard, and Frank. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her brother Carl Morgan (Kells), her sister Anne McManus (Newtownforbes), the extended Sheppard family, her brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbours. May Eileen Rest in Peace.
