John (Sean) Reilly, Bawn, Drumlish, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his family and friends in Mullingar Regional Hospital on Thursday, August 21, 2025 of John (Sean) Reilly, Bawn, Drumlish, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents Phil and Sarah and his sister Margaret. John will be forever missed and remembered with love by his wife and best friend Philomena, sisters-in-law Anne Lomasney and Kathleen Ward, brothers-in-law Laurence McGovern (USA), Eammon Connolly, Bill Lomasney and Kevin Maguire, nieces, nephews and cousins. John will be dearly missed by his neighbours and life long friends. May the roads rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back,
 May the sun shine warm upon your face,
 May the rains fall soft upon the fields, 
And until we meet again John, 
May God hold you in the palm of his hand. Rest in Peace.

Reposing in Connell's Funeral Home, Church St, Longford N39 KN66 on Friday, August 22 from 5pm until 7pm, with removal to arrive at St Mary's Church, Ennybegs N39 AH01 for prayers at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 23 at 11am. Following Mass, John will be laid to rest in the family plot in Aughaboy Cemetery. Mass can be viewed live HERE. Margaret Denning, No 3 Tullacmongan, Cavan Town, Cavan / Westmeath / Longford

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in Cavan General Hospital on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, of Margaret Denning, No 3 Tullacmongan, Cavan Town, Cavan / Westmeath / Longford and formerly of Coolnagun, Lismacaffrey, Co Westmeath.

Predeceased by her grandparents Pat and Margaret Denning and Tommy and Margaret Brady. Margaret will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her heartbroken family, her beloved children Patrick, Chloe, Mairead and Niamh, her parents Pat and Peggy, brother Tommy, sister-in-law Fionnuala, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and her wonderful friends.

Close to our hearts you will always stay, Loved and remembered every day. Rest in Peace.

Margaret will repose in her brother Tommy and sister-in-law Fionnuala's home (Boherquill N91 E735) on Thursday, August 21 from 5pm until 9pm. Removal to arrive to St Mary's Church, Boherquill N91YY07 on Friday, August 22 for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Following Mass, Margaret will be laid to rest in St Fintan's Cemetery. Family time on Friday morning please.

Michael Bergin, formerly of Main Street and Lisbrack, Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in Cambodia on Thursday, August 7, 2025 of Michael Bergin, formerly of Main Street and Lisbrack, Longford town. 

Pre-deceased by his parents Nicholas and Nellie and by his sister Nicola. Michael will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, daughters Nicole and Shauna, son Michael, sister Ann, brothers Tommy, Noel and Roger, grandchildren Rioaghán, Oisín, Saoirse-Erin, Róisín and Kyla, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Friday, August 22 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday, August 23 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. Teresa Bissett (née Donlon), Skerries, Dublin / Longford

The death occurred peacefully at Beaumont Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 17, 2025 of Teresa Bissett, (née Donlon), Skerries, Co Dublin, late of Longford.

Daughter of the late Mel and Kathleen. Sadly missed by her loving husband and best friend Con, sons Richard, Mel and Peter and their partners Deirdre, Joy and Niamh, granddaughter Lila, brothers Frank and Mel, sisters Catherine and Winnie, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family and a large circle of friends. Teresa will repose at Lannon's Funeral home on Thursday, August 21 from 6pm to 8pm. Removal Friday to St Patrick's church Skerries arriving for 10am funeral mass, burial thereafter in Ardla cemetery Skerries. The family have requested that if possible you wear bright colours to the funeral home and funeral please. The death occurred peacefully, in the exceptional care of the staff at Árus Carolan Nursing Unit, Mohill, surrounded by his loving family aged 89 years, on Thursday, August 21, 2025 of Seamus Ward, Hill Street, Mohill, Co Leitrim and formerly Rosharry, Mohill, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary Kate, sisters Maura Stenson, Carrick-on-Shannon, Kathleen Lowe, Carrick-on-Shannon, infant sister Nancy, brothers Sean and Michael (Mike Joe), Rosharry, and his baby grandson Daniel Murphy, Clonboney.Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving wife Margaret, daughters Joan (Murphy), Clonboney and Regina, Sligo, sons-in-law Carl Murphy and Liam O'Callaghan, grandchildren Adam, David and Sarah, sister-in-law Breege Mitchell, Keash, nieces and nephews Gerard, Patricia, Helen, Kathleen, Michelle, Marie, Brendan, John and Chris, niece-in-law, nephews-in-law, cousins and their extended families, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the devoted care of the staff of Mullingar Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 of Edmond (Teddy) Flanagan, St Anne's, Elphin Street, Strokestown, Roscommon F42C567.

Cherished husband of Eileen, much loved father of Gemma and Anita, father-in-law of David and Kieran and brother of Doris (Kildare). Teddy will be forever missed by his heartbroken wife, daughters, sons-in-law, sister, nephews, nieces, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, relatives, neighbours and his wide circle of friends.

Teddy is predeceased by his parents Francis and Mary, his brothers, Fr. Des, Bill and Broddy and his sisters Myra, Sr. Venard and Pauline. Rest In Peace.

Reposing at his home (Eircode: F42C567) on Thursday, August 21 from 5pm until 8pm. Removal on Friday, August 22 to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown, arriving for Funeral Mass at 3pm. Teddy will be laid to rest afterwards in Strokestown Cemetery.

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family and in the excellent care of the staff at the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 of Jack Daly (retired An Garda Síochana) – Lake View, Rathconnell, Mullingar, Co Westmeath and formerly of Strokestown, Co Roscommon. 

Predeceased by his dear daughter Caroline (Crowley), brother Charlie, sister Maureen and infant brother Paul. Beloved husband and best friend of Peg, loving father of Pauline, John, Mark, Raymond and Anita, adored grandfather to his sixteen grandchildren and cherished great-grandfather to his eight great-grandchildren.

Jack will be very sadly missed and always remembered by his wife and family, sons-in-law Gerry, William and Eamonn, daughters-in-law Johanna, Pamela and Marcella, sister Maud, brothers James, Malachy, Michael and David, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, kind neighbours and many wonderful friends and former colleagues of An Garda Síochana. May Jack’s gentle soul rest in peace.

Reposing at his home at Lake View, Rathconnell (N91 YN59) on Thursday August 21 from 5 pm to 7 pm and house private thereafter. Niall Brady, Killadream, Loughduff, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully after an illness borne with dignity and courage on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 of Niall Brady, Harlaxton & Denton, Lincolnshire, England and Killadream, Loughduff, Co Cavan. Recently predeceased by his father Charlie.

Deeply regretted and dearly missed by his beloved children, Ciarán, Ailish and Danny, their mother Lisa, and Ciarán’s fiancée Jo, his mother Detta, his siblings Ann Marie (TP), Fionnuala (Francie), Cathal (Emer), Colm (Róisín) and Shane (Vanda), his nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, his former colleagues in the Kelly Group and his many friends. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam uasal.

A private family ceremony prior to cremation will take place in Grantham on Monday, August 18, followed by a wake in the Welby Arms, Denton, Grantham, England NG32 1LG at 12:30pm, where all can gather to offer support, remember and celebrate Niall’s life.

Niall’s ashes will be brought to Ireland the following week and will rest at his home in Killadream, Loughduff, Co Cavan (H12C9X7), where all are welcome to meet his family, pay their respects and remember Niall on Friday, August 29 from 4pm to 8pm. Niall’s funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, August 30 at 12 noon in St Joseph’s Church, Loughduff (H12F968) followed by interment of his ashes in the local cemetery. Eileen Sheppard (née Morgan), Bawnboy, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in Javea, Spain on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 of Eileen Sheppard (nee Morgan) Bawnboy, Cavan and Javea, Spain and formerly of Ealing, London.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Keith, her parents John and Eileen, and her brothers James, Richard, and Frank. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her brother Carl Morgan (Kells), her sister Anne McManus (Newtownforbes), the extended Sheppard family, her brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbours. May Eileen Rest in Peace.
