The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her heartbroken family in Tullamore Regional Hospital on Sunday, July 13, 2025 of Martina Dempsey (nee McAuley) 22 Auburn Park, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford, N39 KX95.

Predeceased by her beloved daughter Kaea, grandson Blake and her dear parents. Martina will be sadly missed by her loving family, husband Brian, her dear children Joseph, Bernard, Shane, Jade and Aaron, daughter-in-law Shannon, her adored grandchildren Carter, Kai and Hudson, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. We hold you close within our hearts and there you shall remain, to walk with us throughout our lives until we meet again. Rest in Peace.

Martina will repose in her home (22 Auburn Park, Edgeworthstown, N39 KX95) on Tuesday, July 15 from 4pm until 8pm. Removal from her home on Wednesday, July 16 to arrive to St Mary's Church, Granard for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Following Mass, Martina will be laid to rest in Granardkill New Cemetery. Florence (Flo) Curran (née Clarke), Congress Terrace, Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her family at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar on Friday, July 11, 2025 of Florence 'Flo' Curran (nee Clarke), Congress Terrace, Longford Town.

Pre-deceased by her beloved son Francis, parents Bridie & Frank (Nobby) and by extended members of the Clarke Family. Flo will be sadly missed by her husband Jimmy, daughter Maureen, sons James, Edward & Stephen, grand-daughter Chloe, son-in-law Johnny, daughters-in-law Amanda, Lizzie & Sharon, sisters Bride Woods, Maureen Moran, Deborah Swaris and Bibi Byrne, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, relatives and Friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon's Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road [N39 EC81] on Monday, July 14 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 8.00pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday, July 15 in St Mel's Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her family, in the tender care of the doctors and staff of the Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar on Thursday, July 10, 2025 of Rose Wyse (nee McCormack), Dublin Road, Longford and formerly of Cloncullen, Ballymore, Co Westmeath.

Predeceased by her parents Eugene and Anne and by her brother Thomas. Rose will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, husband Larry, son Larry Jnr, sisters Marie Connolly (Athlone), Helen Hickey (Limerick), Dympna Creighton (Clonbalt Woods, Longford) , Pauline Foudy (Glack, Longford) and Sandra Dowd (Newtowncashel), brothers Eugene (Cloncullen) and Vincent (Moate), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

The death occurred peacefully at his residence on Sunday, July 13, 2025 of Mel Ward Sonnagh Aughnacliffe, Co Longford. Sadly missed by his family, neighbours and friends.

Removal to St Colmcille Church, Aughnacliffe on Tuesday, July 15 arriving at 7pm. Funeral Mass Wednesday morning, July 16 at 11am, burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

JJ Flynn, Bishopsgate Street, Mullingar, Westmeath / Longford

The death occurred peacefully, in his 91st year, in the tender care of the nurses and staff at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar on Saturday, July 12, 2025 of JJ Flynn, Bishopsgate Street, Mullingar, Co Westmeath and formerly of Clooneen, Bornacoola, Co Longford, (Rtd. Staff, St Loman's, Mullingar)

Pre-deceased by his father James, mother Molly, brothers Brendan and Seamus. Beloved husband of Bridget and loving father of Lorraine, Ray and Gillian. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his wife, daughters, son, adored grandchildren Orlagh, Róisín and Eoghan, daughters-in-law Aisling and Melanie. Deeply mourned by his sisters Jeanette and Maura, brothers Gene and Liam, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, wonderful neighbours, wide circle of friends and former colleagues. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Reposing at Shaws Funeral Home, Bishopsgate Street, Mullingar on Tuesday, July 15, from 4pm concluding with prayers at 6pm. Removal to the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar, arriving at 6.30pm. Anthony ‘Tony’ Brennan, Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred unexpectedly in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada on Thursday, December 19, 2024 of Anthony ‘Tony’ Patrick John Brennan, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada and formerly of Harbour Row, Longford town, Co Longford.

Predeceased by his parents Winnifred ‘Dolly’ and Francis ‘Dex’ and by his sisters Netta, Laurie and Mary. Tony will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, his beloved wife Rosanne, his cherished children Elizabeth, Eileen, Maureen and John, grandchild Henry, sons-in-law Kevin and Joseph, daughter-in-law Catherine, sisters Vickie and Cathy, brothers Michael, Frankie, John Joe and Davie, sister-in-law Margaret, brother-in-law Tommy, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Cremation has taken place at Park Lawn Crematorium in Sudbury. As Tony asked for his remains to be brought home to Ireland, Mass of the Resurrection will take place on Monday, July 14 at 11am in St Mel’s Cathedral, interment of ashes afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery.

The death occurred unexpectedly and peacefully on Thursday, July 10, 2025 of Michael McNamara, Carrickavoher, Aughavas, Leitrim. Predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Sweeney) sister, Margaret Creamer and infant brother Francis.

Deeply regretted and fondly remembered by his sons; Brian (Rita), Ray (Mary), Ciaran (Nicola) and Enda (Maureen), his daughter Deirdre (Nevan), his adored grandchildren; Cathal, Éanna, Meadhbh, Róisín, Áine, Katie, Emily, Jack and Madeleine, brothers; Pat and Kevin, sister Josie, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan on Tuesday, July 15 from 5.30pm until 8pm. Removal from his home on Wednesday morning, July 16 at 10.30am to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coronea to arrive for Requiem Mass at 11.00am. The recent death has occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of Abbey Haven Nursing Home Boyle Co. Roscommon on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 of Michael Francis Blake, Leitrim lower, Eslin Bridge Carrick-On -Shannon Co. Leitrim.


Predeceased by his wife Anne May, his brother John Blake and brother-in-law Daniel Dolan. Deeply Regretted and sadly missed by his sister Maura Dolan, niece Danielle Caswell, nephews Ciaran and Eamonn Dolan, Relatives, Neighbours and Friends. May Michael Francis Rest In Peace.

Reposing at Abbey Haven nursing home, Oratory Boyle, Co. Roscommon on Monday, July 14 from 2.30pm concluding with prayers at 3.45pm. Removal to St Patrick's Church, Mohill to arrive for 5pm, Funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 15 at 11am. Burial afterwards in St Mary's Cemetery Lower Main Street.

Margaret (Madge) Murphy (née Moran), High Street, formerly Killaglasheen, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim

The death has occurred peacefully at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 13, 2025 of Margaret (Madge) Murphy (nee Moran) High Street, formerly Killaglasheen, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by her husband James. Madge will be sadly missed by her sons Joe (Leigh), Kevan (Órla) & Adrian (Orla), her grandchildren Joseph, Maeve, Aoife, Mollie, Lucy, Ellie, James, Séimí Barra and Fía Rossa, her great granddaughter Danu and her extended family, neighbours and friends. Reposing at Smith's Funeral Home, High Street Ballinamore (N41TD62) on Monday evening, July 14 from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 15 at 12 noon in St. Patrick’s Church Ballinamore, followed by burial in Oughteragh cemetery. House private please. Maura Philomena Norton (née Fay), Castletown Finea, Westmeath / Dublin / Wexford

The death has occurred peacefully in the loving, tender and wonderful care of the Staff of Oakfield Nursing Home, Curam Care, Gorey on Friday, July 11, 2025 of Maura Philomena Norton (nee Fay) formerly Castletown, Finea, Dublin & Gorey, Wexford. 

She is survived by her loving daughter Colette, son in law Paul and her granddaughter Laura. Sister in law Mary, nieces Kathleen, Nicola, Janine, Louise, Jennifer and nephews Tom, Andrew, Oliver & Nicholas and their families. Maura was predeceased by her parents Kathleen & Nicholas, her sister Angela, brothers Liam & Oliver and husband Jim.

She will be reposing at her daughters home followed by removal to St. Michael’s Church, Castletown, Finea, Co. Westmeath for Requiem mass on Monday, July 14 at 2pm. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. No flowers please, donations in lieu if desired to Friends of the Elderly Ireland. www.friendsoftheelderly.ie

The death occurred peacefully in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin on Saturday, July 12, 2025 of Frank Reynolds, Swords, Co Dublin, formerly of Mohill, Co Letrim and Drombane Village, Co Tipperary. 

Pre-deceased by his parents Tom and Mary Ellen, brother Joseph and sister Maura. Sadly missed by his loving wife Mary (Gleeson Drombane Village Co. Tipperary), son Thomas, daughter Joan (Shanahan Upperchurch, Co. Violet McDonnell (née Shorten), Ballynameagh, Castlepollard, Westmeath / Clonakilty, Cork

The death occurred peacefully at home in the tender care of her husband Christy, after an illness bravely fought, on Friday, July 11, 2025 of Violet McDonnell (nee Shorten), Ballynameagh, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath and formerly of Woodfield, Clonakilty, Co Cork and Toronto, Canada. 

Violet will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband Christy, her dearly loved sisters Lil and Evie, brother & sister in laws, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Violet is predeceased by her adored older brothers, Jack and Bill.

Reposing in St Michael's Church of Ireland the Square, Castlepollard for condolence and sympathy on Saturday morning, July 19 from 10.30am to 11.45am. Funeral Service and Thanksgiving for Violet's life will take place at 12 noon, followed by burial immediately afterwards in Kilafree Cemetery Castlepollard. Peace Perfect Peace. 

Eileen Sheppard (née Morgan), Bawnboy, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in Javea, Spain on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 of Eileen Sheppard (nee Morgan) Bawnboy, Cavan and Javea, Spain and formerly of Ealing, London.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Keith, her parents John and Eileen, and her brothers James, Richard, and Frank. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her brother Carl Morgan (Kells), her sister Anne McManus (Newtownforbes), the extended Sheppard family, her brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbours. The death occurred at her home in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, surrounded by her loving family in her 89th year on Thursday, June 19, 2025 of Mary Bridget (Bridie) Fisher (nee Dooner), formerly of Lislea, Kenagh, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her parents Paddy and Bridget and her brothers Pat, Tom, Mike, James, John (Séan) and her sister Anne. Devoted wife to Les. Adoring mother to Carol and Gary. Loving sister to Gerry, Much loved mother in-law to Kevin and Sharon. Adored grandmother to Natalie, Rebecca, Shaun, Molly and Niall. Sorely missed by Great grandchildren and extended family, neighbours and friends. Bridie lived a life of love, fun and caring that touched so many people’s lives and we will all miss her deeply. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 18 at St Nicholas’s Catholic Church, Winchcombe at 12.30pm. Private burial afterwards at Winchcombe Cemetery. Family flowers only please donations if desired to Dementia UK or Kate’s Home Nursing.

James Joseph 'Seamus' Murtagh, Mitcham, Surrey UK and Correally, Streete, Lismicaffrey, Mullingar, Co Westmeath

The death occurred on Thursday, June 19, 2025, aged 93 years, of James Joseph 'Seamus' Murtagh, Mitcham, Surrey UK and Correally, Streete, Lismicaffrey, Mullingar, Co Westmeath. 

Seamus was from Correally, Streete, Lismicaffrey, Mullingar, Co Westmeath and later in his life in Mitcham, Surrey UK. The funeral service will be held at St Cecilia’s RC Church, Cheam Surrey at 11am on Tuesday, July 22.

Peggy Murphy (née Moore), Westmeath

The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, after a hard-fought battle with cancer of Peggy Murphy (née Moore) of Milton Keynes, England, previously of Glenidan, Co. Westmeath.

Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Kathleen Moore of Glenidan and her adored niece Stephanie Joynt. Peggy will be forever loved and dearly missed by her beloved husband Kevin, her sons Ultan, Paul and Ronan, her daughter Catherine. Daughters-in-law Isobel and Adele, son-in-law Chris. Grandchildren Connor, Sofia, Shea, Fleur, Jade, Logan and Saoirse. Brothers Fr Patrick Moore (Castlepollard) and Sean, sisters Nancy, Patricia and Catherine. Brothers-in-law Christy (Rooney), Stephen (Joynt), Michael (Corcoran), Chris (Reilly), sisters-in-law Ann (Moore), Nancy (Murphy) and Ita (Connolly), nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Peggy’s Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 12pm in St Thomas Aquinas Church, Sycamore Ave, Fenny Stratford, Bletchley, Milton Keynes MK2 2JE followed by burial afterwards at 1:45pm in Selbourne Ave., Bletchley Milton Keynes Buckinghamshire MK3 5BX
